  1. Thanks. All my information had disappeared! Location is back now!
  2. Bollington it is in my profile not sure why this doesn’t show up anymore in posts
  3. A flake a flake I saw a flake! First precipitation of the day here and it is snow.
  4. Everything that is falling from the sky is snow. The problem is there is hardly anything falling, just a few flakes in the breeze. Still a covering of hail on my roof light from 4am this morning
  5. It does worry me that the last two days the met office app has shown heavy snow for me for next week, it now shows sleet at night and rain during the day and dry by Thursday. This happened last time and all the snow ended up in Birmingham!
  6. What makes you think the shower activity is being overplayed?
  7. That’s for Monday, are any models showing any different for that early in the week!
  8. Because snow isn’t that simple and relies on more than one parameter as is so often shown. Some of our heaviest falls have come from such uppers
  9. Light rain in Bollington right now, usually I would expect snow here
  10. Although I do remember a slider that are further north a few years ago and needed up in Scotland and all out snow melted. Maybe someone with a better memory with know when this was
  11. I think the met office were pretty good myself they had already adjusted their forecast against the models to account for a shift south. I’m terms of the small distances involved in global terms then I think people are wing a bit unfair to them . They key to this is not the symbols shown on the app changing but the percentage above the snow symbols this was going down every day. We had to be in the Amber area warning because there has to be a degree of allowing for some movement. The only thing they got wrong early on and so did the models was the degree of pivot whereas if you look at historical events these always seem to pivot
  12. Not so sure myself, in the micro detail of a few miles ghatbues has a massive effect on us but in terms of spotting it and getting it thereabouts then I think they have done pretty well. I think they are getting better all the time. The Met Office Just never seem to realise how far these systems always end up south than where they are first projected
  13. The met office app has now updated and has changed the heavy snow all day tomorrow to light snow in the morning. I am in Bollington so not looking great anymore. Snow today though! Let’s enjoy
  14. I was never aware that 1963 was so snowless in Manchester. Considering Alderley Edge had a yard of snow plus drifts and 1947 snow depths looked respectable in Manchester
  15. I can remember one red warning in March 2013 and I was snowed in. Red warnings are pretty rare unless I have missed them. Last night the local forecast with data frok the met office seemed very accurate we just didn’t want to believe it.
  16. Spent my day trying to log in but couldn’t find my password or email address so I’ve rejoined just to say it is snowing here in Bollington. Think I used to be called SnowingTequila
