  1. At the rate of some posts, it may be easier to log off for 3 hours
  2. Those of you pulling an all nighter! True dedication (or desperation). Can't fault you for it though. Been rather snow starved haven't we? I love my bed but will probably curtain twitch in desperation. A nice Sunday morning walk up the nature reserve which is very local for a picture before spending the day with many hot chocolates and biscuits watching snow out the window. Heaven!
  3. They block our storms in summer by putting a trump wall in the channel preventing them crossing so NER NER NER NER NER to them
  4. Just a small post that hopes everyone in our regional thread sees snow and enjoys whatever snow does fall. Be safe out there & wrap up snug! I look forward to seeing everyone's excitement and happiness in the posts and pictures that are bound to follow.
  5. Agreed from a local perspective! Blowing snow given the winds might increase that by 5cm perhaps where exposed. Norwich area also similar values
  6. Another forecast/ take on the upcoming cold. Finally: Beast from the East set to release extreme cold and snow over Europe next week WWW.SEVERE-WEATHER.EU A cold outbreak is setting up for next week as a so-called Beast from the East will push extreme cold and also some snow towards the central-west Europe.
  7. Oo er! Sticks and stones may break bones but kinky troughs excite me. Blush!
  8. The ECM t96 isobars are dented. I sense troughs maybe caught up in the flow. It's those short timescale disturbances which can crop up and enhance shower activity. These are also generally overlooked. Expecting more of these to occur as we go forward (locations will be determined closer to the time once we get the high res models come into view). On a side note, buying boots for his highness (my pooch) to assist with his arthritis when walking in wet/cold conditions. Not a jinx! Just an investment. At least that's my excuse to bypass any jinxing
  9. Weekend warnings at the unlikely matrix stage but with a likely impact. The later warnings have increased confidence in happening though.
  10. Good morning @Kentspur. Was Jan 2003 part of the infamous nationwide thundersnow event? Jan 28th I think? ENEly flows are fickle I've found but also taking into account Gravesham and Dartford seem to have higher temps than most of the county aside from perhaps Maidstone (Summer temps always has Gravesend topping the table for example). I suspect theres an small urban heat island in this area as well. Topography of the surrounding areas may also play a part with rural areas (Higham comes to mind) naturally being cooler and more supportive to snow then warm buildings radiating heat. An easterly imo would benefit Gravesham better, possibly due to a localised lake effect snowfall scenario (streamers etc) being better aligned as opposed to Ene or Ne
  11. I loved sitting in the castle gardens overlooking the river in summer. Eased my mental health concerns to take a sideline from the world and have some me time. But I digress... elevation in the coming days shouldn't be a concern hopefully! Fingers crossed we all can reap some snowy rewards.
  12. @gooner265 I'm biased to the netweather one personally. I also "cheat" by reading this topic as theres nothing more definitive and accurate than peoples own reports! Removes any anaprop (anomalous propagation/ "fake radar returns")
  13. Similar yes, but i recall it showed the se England on there as well. Mucho thankies though and have bookmarked too. The more radar views the better
  14. The 10 day outlook shows an occlusion Sunday, pulling away SE which I would like to think might drag some colder air behind it. The coasts generally do have a wee issue with sea temps of course but its (in my own opinion) a reasonable chance. Chances do improve into the new week as the colder air draws in. The T850s also drop which should aid convection over the north sea, And with any convection, troughs/disturbances can set up at short notice increasing the chance of snow. A closer look on Saturday evening will give better insight! "get the cold air in place, the snow should follow" is an adage used often on netweather. Edit: does anyone have the Netherlands radar link to hand? Worth bookmarking for the coming days
  15. Pileus cloud caused by temperature inversions! One of my favourite clouds
  16. Good afternoon. Viewing the MOD, and from what I've seen on the METO week ahead on YouTube, it would appear to my untrained eye that the GEM is the closest outcome if the METO went on to the weekend. However, all those posts are a pleasing sight. I hear 1987 mentioned But overall, again based on MOD posts - UKMO, GFS, GEM appear to be in general agreement? Cross model agreement would strengthen the chance of a forecast verifying as I understand. What time does the ECM roll out please?
  17. Good afternoon. I did enjoy seeing the 00z having a real snow lovers dream for the weekend. And given how previous weekends have gone, I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being cold rain / sleet once more (saves getting my hope dashed). I'm also not going to buy into the idea until its showing on Fridays runs. I do wonder though, is it worth just using the 00/12z runs? My understanding is that these datasets have more input data than the 6z/18z. Correct me if I'm wrong by all means!
  18. I say! Those posted charts are pure adult material. I nearly choked on coco pops. Ecm is very good at handling medium range but t+240 is fi. hopefully it's the result of the saw, and is a trend in the models for latter cross model consistency! Realistically however? Likely to water down imo. But forget the science.. I'll take those charts in an instant!!!!
  19. Been snizzling with moments of decent flakes occasionally since 2am. Gillingham Kent Cm in places but everything's turning lovely and white. Happy days
  20. Omg. Snowmageddon! Probably more then most have seen though to be fair. Share your flakes
  21. From sky news site Met Office spokesman Martin Bowles said: "Tonight is going to be very cold, there is a front coming into the North West and because we have got lots of cold air there is going to be lots of snow on it. "It is reaching north-west Scotland and Northern Ireland this evening and then it will gradually work its way into north Wales and north-west England overnight, including a good chance of some fairly substantial settling of snow in those areas. During tomorrow, it will continue to work its way into the South East, but as it does so it will become a much weaker affair so actually pretty much the whole country can expect to get some snow between six o'clock this evening and six o'clock tomorrow.
