  1. Sadly this will be the memory of this winter if we don’t get anymore in the remaining time we have. What an evening that was. I look at this picture everyday and cherish it and wish this could happen all again 1 final time this season and for all of us coldies. Let’s give it 2 weeks peeps and see if there is anything in the pattern that does herald any change on the horizon. All is not lost yet, but my only fear is that if January does not deliver we will then be searching desperately for a last fling with winter. Hoping it does not come to that. I am off now take care all.Tomorrow is another day. regards
  2. Yes that’s one piece of comfort I will take with me after this winter is over, at least we did get some snow and we done really well in E17 It is better than not seeing a single flake which others have not seen yet.
  3. I know Ali and wish I could be more positive but deep down I feel January is not going to give us coldies anything, I know the weather can change and wish my instincts are proven wrong but just got a bad vibe now. The feeling is frustrating I know but that is the uk weather. OH TWAADI
  4. Dear me that’s the rest of January out According to this. I guess alarm bells have been ringing for a few days now. Unfortunately taking into account the above materialises that leaves February to rescue winter. Not the best of outlooks but it is what it is and there is nothing we can do to change that.
  5. I get what you are saying Daniel yes it’s good to have a cold pool out east. However it’s mouthwatering just looking at it stuck there and not inching this way. I know at the moment it’s all doom and gloom and there is nothing exciting in the output. But if in the coming days there was a change and we for once we’re put in a favourable position for that cold to head west then it will be fireworks. Alas at the moment it’s just trying to pick out crumbs of self comfort. Deep down we all know where we wereI just before mid December and look where we are now. It’s January not the most joyful months either and we could have done with the weather to give us some cold weather cheer but unfortunately not. How long we will be stuck in this rut is anyone’s guess. But I fear as the days go past our winter will slowly get eaten up and then we will be in a desperate situation for a rescue. Still there is a lot of time which is on our side for now let’s hope in the coming weeks we do see some changes that we are waiting for.
  6. The way I read the update is that it looks sometime in mid January there will be high pressure over us which will bring frost and fog hence downturn in temperatures. After that it looks as if the Atlantic will come back to dominate with temperatures average to above average. Towards the end it’s milder or milder than average. So that takes all of January with February still left to rescue winter. I wish I could see any hope but to me nothing lifts the eyebrow or any hope of any potential wintry weather in the latest update except if you like frost and fog which might bring lower temperatures earlier.

  8. Some headlines today, no surprise it’s James Madden again but for once he might hit the right bracket
  9. Hi peeps Hope you all had a lovely Christmas . Certainly some rumours flying around now of a freeze to develop as we go through January but all to be taken by a pinch of salt. However the models since yesterday have certainly made me come out of hibernation. Seems to be some positive developments going on. A week ago it was all doom and gloom and January had been written off by many. Are we about to see something special develop as we head into the new year who knows it may not come to nothing, but certainly something interesting maybe brewing. All eyes on developments in the coming days. Wishing you and your families a happy and peaceful new year . take care all
  10. Hi peeps I think I am going to make my break today for Christmas and maybe come back after. Hope you all have a great time and take some special time out to be with your family and loved ones. It’s been a mixed year and with all that’s happening with the strikes and economy we can only hope times will get better. Wishing you all lots of joy for the festive period aside from the models. Take care all and Merry Christmas
  11. Yes unfortunately not the most exciting morning of model watching. As I have highlighted in most of my posts this week and I will emphasis again as soon as I saw those Euro heights down south it was alarm bells and you could read the writing on the walls. When we get into a pattern like this as shown on the models it can take some time to shift again. As some posters have said may be the perfect time to take a break and see what the situation is come the new year. We have two important updates today one from the Met and also the e46. I dare say it will be edge of seat seeing what these updates say. The signals could be make or break for whatever may be folding come the new year and January. I wish I could find any positives this morning but unfortunately being really realistic there is nothing except may be if you’re in the far north. That Euro slug has sadly become Scrooge once again this Christmas. Hopefully things will change again but now patience is required. Have a great Thursday all
  12. I think there is one common thing on the above charts that stands out that’s the Euro heights. As long as they hang around I don’t see no deep freeze. Those heights to the South have to give for us to be in the game. Unfortunately as hard as it may be to absorb if these heights to our south stick around then we could well be in for mild weather to stick around.
  13. All looks good if we are in dreamland. But in all honesty in reality I don’t think this is how it will look and that’s being really honest to stop any heartache after.
  14. Exactly as I expressed in my post earlier. Those Euro heights are a menace for UK cold. I know many will say we can still get cold with Euro heights being present, which we could, but I firmly believe until those heights don’t go getting the proper cold we all want is going to be exhausting. I could see from a while back as soon as those heights popped up down south it was alarm bells ringing. However this situation is so Volatile it could change at short notice. regards
  15. I 100 percent agree with this F1 are phantom charts that disappear nearer the time yet I feel more trust is put on these charts than should be. I still hold my head up and believe that the so called European heights have a lot to blame for spoiling our cold. Yes I understand we can still get cold with Euro heights but the job is made so much harder. Until these heights stay to the south of us I think it is going to be difficult to get a sustained spell of cold weather which we are after. I mentioned in my post couple of days ago that we may need to encounter a mild blip and that may be a short one or May last a few weeks. However as always weather is something we cannot predict it will change beyond our control. Let’s hope in the coming days these European heights can be destroyed and we can get some worthwhile HLB, We don’t have to go back far in history to know that these heights down south have been the spoiler of many of our winters, let’s hope this one is not on that list. Still very unpredictable times ahead as we have seen the models have been all over the place and we still don’t know what Christmas Day is looking like, but more likely Green rather than white especially down south. Still a long way on this journey and a lot of ups and downs to come. Have a great Tuesday all
  16. Yes I agree there may be periods in between where we get some snow which would be better than nothing. However I think a lot of posters like myself are probably looking for a longer sustained period of deep cold with no one missing out, yes a high expectation for our island. In your opinion do you think taking all the factors you mentioned in your earlier post including an unlikely SSW event we can still pull in a 2 week period of deep sustained cold or in your opinion are odds against that as well from your analysis. I know this is the weather and things can change but would there still be scope?
  17. Yes indeed a very sombering outlook if it goes to plan. This means that we are looking at least till the end of January to see if anything changes in terms of the above parremiters you have mentioned. Then again it’s the weather and things could easily change again, but the above could be reality and as you have mentioned even a SSW being unlikely where will that leave us. I am now just trying to think of the worse case scenario. Makes you think more and more about the long term indications from several forecasting models, with this winter being front loaded. Anyway not to dampen the mood than what it probably already is I think the best is to just follow this ride and see what pans out.
  18. There seems to have been a lot of bickering on here today. So I just wanted to be blunt to the point on this post. We have just had a cold spell for which we should be grateful for. Some unlucky ones may just have seen frost whilst some others have seen a decent snowfall and a good covering for a week without it melting. Here in NE London the snow has stuck around for a week. To get this cold early in the season has been a bonus taking into account that not many of our Decembers have produced a lot apart from the odd years eg 2010 and a few others. To be realistic and honest to ourselves we have to accept that yes it is a shame but sadly milder weather is making inroads today. Our cold will not last forever for the entire winter. Yes we may now have to endure a period of maybe a week or several weeks with a weather pattern from a milder source . However we cannot predict what will be the situation in a weeks time it may change or it may not. There is no point stressing at this stage we have only gone through 17 days of this season and we have a whole winter left to go through yet. Unfortunately there will be ups and downs in this journey but we cannot change the weather. Let’s just get through this mild period if it’s meant to happen and hopefully this winter will throw something more better in the coming days. I don’t see any return to severe wintry weather in the coming days yet but everything can change tomorrow such is our weather. Have a great day all
  19. Hi peeps, A bit of a sad day saying goodbye to what lying snow is left. Here in Walthamstow NE London it’s just started to rain. I did have the hope of seeing at least a few flakes before the rain but was not to be I suppose we cannot complain I think our part down here done very well and we have had a weeks worth of lying snow. Sadly now all that remains to be seen is watching this disappear now. I am sure there will be patches of snow that will take a few days to go where it has frozen in a pile. Anyway the MOD thread seems to be very confused today. Earlier was talk of a horror show for coldies in January and now it’s talk of a snow event on Christmas Day lol. Have a great Sunday all. Only this time last week we had little clue as to what was going to be outside that evening. One I am sure we will remember for a long time. regards
  20. Well for now it is more than likely we will have to put up with normal service of the Atlantic. I do have a strong belief that the Euro slug is a real problem and as I mentioned yesterday in my post if this Iberian high is to grow it could stay there for weeks leaving us in The mild. Let’s just hope the models give us something more exciting in the coming weeks. The good thing is we have still got so much of winter to go. It would be a rather high expectation to ask for this cold to stay without a breakdown. So as I see it sadly it’s goodbye cold for now. How long before the cold will comes back who knows (by this I mean severe cold that will deliver snow). The reality is that we will probably have to put up with the Atlantic for a while. GOOD BYE COLD
  21. Yes we have all got that dream but the weather will do what it wants. Still looking mild most of next week I would say with plenty of wet weather around too. Still Christmas Day is not sorted but most likely to be colder further north and milder south at this stage. Still plenty of uncertainty but I am sure things will look a bit more clearer in the next few days. I think because we have had this cold weather now, it’s downhearting our expectations as to why just before Christmas things are going to get milder. However things still could change but the chance of getting bitter cold in for the big day I think would be a big expectation, Models are still playing around so it’s just a matter of seeing what pans out. Have a great Saturday all
  22. Yes anything could still change but our track record with luck is that yes cold will revert to mild but less so mild to cold. Wish we were more luckier. It would be nice if the mild was erased but I feel we have got a mild interlude to get through albeit even if it’s a mini one
  23. I don’t think the mild is getting delayed. More specially down south it’s going to be turning milder through Sunday and the good part of next week looks mild as well. The north May hold on to some cold weather longer but temperatures are expected also to be higher than what they have been here. The uncertainty is more towards the Christmas period and beyond whether the cold air is going to make a comeback or not. All up for grabs yet nothing set in stone.
  24. Yes unfortunately just the right mix for our jet stream to get fired up, but fingers crossed that we can somehow avoid this, We need those heights in Scandi to form now to come to our rescue. Still early days so no point at this stage even thinking where we will be in a weeks time. It’s still all to play for but some mild pain for longer term cold gain may well be the path forward we shall wait and see
