  1. No spring-like weather expected in the south at all in March, says the Met Office forecast, issued a few hours ago. Might be the odd milder interlude, but that's currently it.
  2. It's expected to build and move north/north west, with, later this afternoon, a band of snow affecting all the south, surrey included. Tonight it might turn to freezing rain.
  3. AA M25 etc map has yet to crash... http://www.theaa.com/traffic-news/m25 Use the zoom out ["-"] bit to see the full map.
  4. Tell them this - hot off the press from the latest met office vid this a.m.: in the south [Berks included], snow on and off throughout the day, expecially a bit later, e.g. after 3 or 4 p.m. when it should be a proper band of snow, moving north. Yes, they might see the wind is an easterly/east north easterly, but the band will be moving north. The snowfall today might be light at times, could be moderate or heavy with that band. Tonight, might turn to rain or freezing rain, briefly, before stopping. Tell them to shove their apps into a snowman ... oops snow person.
  5. Heavy snowfalls are well capable of happening in March and also early April. It was April 6th 2008 when a cold front from the north turned into a stalling low in the south and dumped 5" and more on us. It was on the ground for 2 days at least. There was about the same amount in Surrey in early April, 1988. On March 27th 1975 a cold front from the north turned into a low overnight in the south/english channel and gave several inches of snow. Some info about the 2008 event: https://www.theweatheroutlook.com/twocommunity/default.aspx?g=posts&t=16197 https://www.netweather.tv/forum/topic/46893-6th-april-2008-snow/
  6. Actually it seems to have got a move on now. Snowing steadily but not heavily 10 miles inland from the Worthing area coast. NB! There can be less rain or snow at sea level, which is a reason why the south coast is one of the driest parts of the UK. Altitude helps to get heavier precipitation.
  7. Maybe the front has stalled and will weaken as/if it moves away northwest wards. Doesn't seem to want to [or is unable to!] take that exra step to hit the coast and move inland.
  8. A significant dump on your and our doorstep ... er not far away. Allegedly. Or so say 2 lots of radars.
  9. Just back from a long walk [with the dog], 10-ish miles north-ish of Worthing, half of it against a strong, snow-flecked wind, in sub zero temps. Streams are frozen, cracked. The ground, once muddy, is chilled to earthy bone – solid. Flakes are the real thing; none of the wet stuff. No rain; not even the frozen variety. No mizzle. In a wood, wild deer shelter behind banks of brambles. Snow drifts down, whitening the ground. The sky is grey, leaden, preparing, perhaps, to unload something. The wind is picking up, whirling falling snow as it becomes heavier. Now to drink an "Old Crafty Hen, Oak Aged Vintage". 6.5%.
  10. The band of a few flakes has drifted 10 miles north from the Worthing area. Exciting times lol
  11. OCD is treatable with a good fall of snow I think we all need it [snow, not more OCD] lol
  12. And any rain would fall as freezing rain. imho unlikely to be rain or freezing rain.
  13. 'Should in theory swing north and then NW at some point - but when!? Or will it...
  14. Fascinating starburst of heavyish stuff over/near the Normandy peninsula https://www.netweather.tv/live-weather/radar
  15. I'm looking at a couple of heavier bands a bit further south than the south coast.
  16. The latest rader indicates you and the forlorn folk of Worthing may not be disappoined too much today.
  17. If it rains, go inland a little way, if you can, for snow. But the latest forecast is for a decent fall tomo and ... no rain.
