  1. Pavements and woodland paths all lethal. Rain has turned to ice on the cold ground. Canned the dog walk halfway through. Bring on the thaw now!
  2. December 2009 was very cold and lots of snow (in Glasgow anyway). Didn't break until mid January
  3. High pressure returning after going missing for 10 weeks here.....all a bit too late though
  4. 10 weeks of dross here...no change on the horizon....
  5. OMG, fingers crossed this south easterly comes off. Ideal direction for my neck of the woods. Me and my tomato plants will take a couple of weeks of that.
  6. New York is at the same latitude as Madrid, not London. Sorry...just happen to know that from a quiz one time
  7. Been a while since these have been on the forecast......fingers crossed
  8. I'm in Sicily right now. Didn't find the heat too bad in Palermo, but last night in Cefalu i was struggling. Almost felt like a steam room when near the sea
  9. This is why you never moan about warm, dry weather. It will inevitably end. 24 days of good weather coming to an end for Glasgow. Fortunately Sicily looks like being back to normal just in time for me heading there. And the forecast in Glasgow should mean enough rain that i won't come back to lots of wilting tomato plants.
  10. And if you're visiting any of the islands I did I'm happy to give restaurant recommendations etc
  11. Late June to mid July. The wind is good for keeping the heat down, but not so good when trying to eat outside. We used the ferries a lot, big ships not a problem with the wind, but the little one from Folegandros to Santorini was a nightmare
  12. I did an 18 day tour of The Cyclades last year - Paros, Naxos, Santorini, Folegandros. It's the wind that will bother you more than the rain probably. Pretty constant strong winds for the 18days we were there.
  13. For god sake, can this never ending high just move 150 miles NW......never ending grey is no good
  14. That looks almost perfect for someone heading to the Greek Islands for two weeks on 25th June who is worried his tomato plants in Glasgow may dry out
  15. Another gorgeous day outside. Keep heading out to the garden for an hour at lunchtime and it feels weird that there is still nothing much to do. Tomatoes still seedlings indoors, onions, carrots etc have barely sprouted. Only thing needing done is watering the strawberries that were overwintered in pots. All the bees are in for a shock next week!
  16. I lived in Brisbane for a couple of years. I remember how bad 120mm of rain in one day felt back in Jan 2013, can't imagine what this would have been like. 700mm in 3 days.
  17. All, video of bridge going in at Moy at the weekend Weather was pretty rough on the Friday night and cold on the Saturday and Sunday. This is a photo about a mile south of the site near Tomatin
  18. Noise of the wind around my hotel at Inverness Airport is mental....just about to head for a shift on the railway at Tomatin. Not looking forward to being out in this all night
