  1. Spot on! Too much slavish obsessing over models that have gone haywire. -2.6 here and a light dusting. Very wintry.
  2. Been watching the weather pattern since September when I read somewhere that Sep 21 was very similar to Sep 62. Looked up October and November 62 to see if they matched too, and broadly speaking they have. Really warm and wet October, November starting with frosts via freezing fog to an end of month snowfall. Another post-Christmas snow and ice fest?
  3. Stopped snowing on Edgehill - looks like the main action is east of the M40.
  4. Snowing well here now, temperature 1.1. Radar now showing it as sleet! Interesting that the Cotswolds to the south shown as sleet too, with 150-250 metres asl would have thought that would be snow too.
  5. Think you right Snowy. Just starting to snow here.
  6. Black clouds here on the northern edge of the ironstone belt but as yet not a flake. According to the radar it’s snowing heavily!
  7. Morning all! -3 here at dawn and a shedload of snow heading down from Scotland, stringing out as it passes the borders. Expect a dumping just before 12, maybe lasting till 2-30? The fire’s lit and there’s just time for those outside chores!
  8. 0 degrees, dew point -3.3. This wave now petered out. Very Christmassy!
  9. Coming down thick and fast now. Tyre ruts whiting over as soon as they’re made.
  10. 09.20. 0.5C. Wind Speed 20kts and gusting. 190masl. (600feet) Snow settling from 09.00. Now 3mm
  11. Temperature 1.2C here now, right on the cusp. Oscillating between snow and sleet. Still, it is November! Reminds me of a November school day in 1971 or so.
  12. Snowing again here now. Big flakes, squally. Could do with the wind dropping.
  13. Temperature +0.8 currently. Very thin ice crust from previous squall. Expect major snowfall just after 22.00 hrs.
  14. Had a five minute squall here at 190asl, just south of Edgehill. Radar showing a mass around Brum heading this way. Temperature currently 1degree under a clear sky
  15. Here in the South Midlands (a mile south of Edgehill) on the Oxon/Warks border it’s been an old-fashioned winter, not much snurr but not much mild either. Sufficient frosts to lose count, nothing like the rainfall of last year and what dusting of Snurr we’ve had has lingered for a day or so. Yes, some people have had it better and some have had it worse and twice we’ve missed decent coverage by about a dozen miles but at least it feels like winter. Can’t understand those folk who appear to take it personally if there isn’t two foot of snow, I can remember (just) 1963 and in South Birmingham there wasn’t a huge amount of snow, but like 1979 it hung around as snow and ice for weeks. It’s not as if we paid in advance for Snurr and have been waiting in for it all winter!
  16. Curses! No sooner had I posted when the glass started climbing and the fire struggled for life. Rising pressure about here’s stopped the low in its tracks. This is life!
  17. Here on Edgehill the temperature was 9 degrees at 0700. It’s now 1.3. The wind was north-westerly this morning, but at 15.00 shifted round to north-easterly and the front that was sliding past is now headed this way. Will inform if any snow forms, still focussed on the 21st!
  18. Keep on course cloud! Here in Edgehill it’s -4.3! ”Get the cold in and the snow will come”
  19. For those upset about melting snow, spare a thought for the Oxon Warks border! Despite elevation up to 200m barely the thinnest of dustings whilst ten miles up the road they’re having snowball fights! Oh well, winter’s barely started. More to follow! Keep them piccies coming in.
  20. Don’t look at the Warks/Oxon border! Twice today we had serried cloud banks heading straight for us but anything in the NW through to NE quadrant gets either split or diverted by the Edge Hill escarpment. Twice watched the snow heading straight for us to watch it veer off at ten miles. Only hope now is a Wash streamer, but of course the snow belt’s too far north! oh, and Blues lost again....
