  1. Recorded my coldest August minimum on the 25th where it dropped to 4.3.C not cold enough for a frost but coldest night since I began recording in 1994, 1986 and 1993 probably recorded something lower however.
  2. I remember a maximum of -1.9.C on the 19th of March and the wind speed was about 20mph from the east, for me it would of been at least -10-12.C without a doubt.
  3. Yes I remember that well it went from -1.3.C in the morning to 24.0.C by the afternoon even more that happened on the last day of the month. I recorded a dirunal of 22.1.C on the 30th of September 2015 Minimum of 0.2.C to 22.3.C.
  4. Feel like Spring 2013 is slightly forgotten a bit, delivering probably the longest spell of cold weather in spring I can ever think of. Even worse that it was actually rather mild and sunny at the start. March was the coldest by a large margin next coldest was 2018 which was still around a degree warmer, we had seen no real warmth until about the second week of May and May still had its share of cold, wet weather. April was also rather cold and very cold at the start, some interesting fscts were snow cover from March 9th until April 4th, snow depth of 23cm on the 24th March, a spell from the 7th March until the 5th April where the maximum temperature didn’t exceed the average. Only redeeming factor warmth wise was the last week in May that delivered some warm sunny weather. March 2013 Mean maximum: 4.3.C (-4.9.C) Mean minimum: -0.8.C (-2.3.C) Mean: 1.8.C (-3.6.C) Rainfall: 38mm (66%) Sunshine: 72 hours (64%) April 2013 Mean maximum: 11.2.C (-1.0.C) Mean minimum: 2.4.C (-1.1.C) Mean: 6.8.C (-1.0.C) Rainfall: 53mm (115%) Sunshine: 156 hours (110%) May 2013 Mean maximum: 14.9.C (-0.6.C) Mean minimum: 6.0.C (-0.4.C) Mean: 10.5.C (-0.5.C) Rainfall: 57mm (114%) Sunshine: 183 hours (97%) Spring 2013 Mean maximum: 10.1.C (-2.1.C) Mean minimum: 2.5.C (-1.3.C) Mean: 6.3.C (-1.7.C) Rainfall: 148mm (98%) Sunshine: 411 hours (90%)
  5. Have to agree August 2011 was abysmal being very cool and wet, although there was a few nice days at the start and some cracking thunderstorms midmonth. Summer 2011 was definitely the worst summer for warm, sunny days
  6. Would like to see a spell of warm sunny weather in September at some point but also some proper chilly nights. Last September failed to deliver that, it never exceeded 20.C at the coldest night was only 4.C.
  7. Janaury: 2010 down to the very cold and snowy weather, -15.C at the start of the month and -7 maximum as well. February: 2018, the very cold, snowy weather at the end was the highlight as well as many cold, frosty sunny days. March: 2012, Due to the unseasonably warm weather towards the end. Near 22.C on the 27th. April: 2015, with many warm days and chilly nights with rain mostly limited to the last week, nearly double the average amount of sunshine hours as well May: 2018, very warm, dry and sunny start of a prolonged heatwave June: 2018, a wet and windy spell sandwiched between two very hot, dry and sunny spells, 31.0.C reached. July: 2018, Heat and heat only probably even better than 2006. August: 2016, Dry and warm particularly in the second half. September: 2016, Mainly down to that ridiculously warm spell in the second week, minimum of only 16.5.C on the 12-13th then maximum of 25.4.C on the 13th. October: 2015, very warm at the start and mostly dry and sunny throughout. November: 2016, due to the many very cold nights, 6 nights fell below -5.C December: 2010/2017: 2010 down to the phenomenal cold and snow, 2017 for the variation of very cold and mild.
  8. Looking back at one month that doesn’t seem to be remembered much is April 2015, it’s certainly one of my favourite spring months, with the combination of warm days but often chilly nights, also being sunnier than the unusually warm April’s of 2007-2011. I prefer it for its more Spring feeling type warmth rather than humid summer warmth. Then it turned awful in the closing days which then set us up for May 2015 which was on of the coolest and wettest recorded with a nagging chilly wind the whole month. Any memories April 2015 statistics Mean maximum: 14.7.C (+2.5.C) Mean minimum: 2.1.C (-1.2.C) Mean: 8.4.C (+0.7.C) Rainfall: 27mm (59%) Sunshine: 246 hours (163%) Warmest day: 22.1.C (22nd) Warmest night: 10.4.C (18th) Coldest day: 9.2.C (2nd) Coldest night: -2.8.C (3rd) May 2015 statistics Mean maximum: 13.8.C (-1.7.C) Mean minimum: 6.0.C (-0.4.C) Mean: 9.9.C (-1.1.C) Rainfall: 86mm (160%) Sunshine: 206 hours (109%) Warmest day: 18.4.C (22nd) Warmest night: 11.2.C (23rd) Coldest day: 10.3.C (2nd/10th) Coldest night: 3.8.C (12th)
  9. Probably 1985 for me, it was cold, wet, dull and often windy for the majority of the summer, 1986 was probably the coldest summer of the 80’s but from what I recall I don’t remember it being very wet 1987 was probably on par with 1985 other than a short spell of warm weather in July. 1988 had a horrible July and August but a decently June
  10. June 1997 did have a couple of brief warm, sunny spells and some fantastic thunderstorms. June 2007 holds the record for my dullest summer month with just 64 hours of sunshine I can remember the first half being not to bad, often cloudy but generally dry and warm
  11. 2002 was a warm summer in central Scotland but very wet and dull particularly in July. We missed the very hot weather in June 2017 it got to around 25.C but not 32-33.C, the rest of the summer was unsettled and cool
  12. Probably again dependant on location. For me it was not a 1995, 2003, 2006 or 2013 summer but certainly not on the level of 2002, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2017. I recall June as being rather cool and dull but quite dry, any heat was restricted to the end of the month. July began and ended warm and sunny but was mostly cool and wet in between. I recall it being almost sunless in the second week. August was probably the most average I’ve seen, a few cool and wet days, a few warm and sunny days as well as some dull, dry days.
  13. Summer 2010 was actually not a bad summer either with June having again some good warm weather, July however was pretty poor with lots of rain although sunshine wise was about average but it had a rather cool feel about it and August was dry and very sunny but often cool, August felt more like April.
  14. Another very warm, dry and sunny month, it was the warmest July since 2013, driest since 2005 and sunniest since 2014. There was only 6 days with recorded rainfall and over 75% of the rain fell in the last four days. It was also especially warm during the first week, around midmonth and the start of the last week. The lowest maximum was also very high. Mean maximum: 22.8.C (+2.7.C) Mean minimum: 12.2.C (+1.1.C) Mean: 17.5.C (+1.9.C) Rainfall: 28mm (54%) Sunshine: 234 hours (135%) Highest maximum: 28.6.C (27th) Highest minimum: 16.4.C (8th) Lowest maximum: 17.8.C (31st) Lowest Minimum: 7.3.C (4th)
  15. Autumn 2012 would have to be one of my favourite autumns, cool, dry and sunny. I remember the rain forecasts for England in September and November and we had none, I can remember the October being very cold especially in the last week with maxima around 4-7.C and very frosty nights.
  16. This was probably one of the sunniest summers on recorded in northern Scotland as well as one of the warmest, Stornaway recorded it’s warmest June day that year I think
  17. Remember August 2008 very well, we took a weeks holiday up in Dornoch up in the far north of Scotland at the start of the month and the weather was generally rather sunny and dry, then we came down to Perth and the park at the back of our house which had the burn running through it was completely flooded almost knee deep. It certainly was an abysmal summer month, it wasn’t as cool as 2007, but it was the wettest since 2004 and dullest on record and still is to date. I can remember a maximum of only 12.4.C on the 12th as well. Mean maximum: 18.2.C (-1.3.C) Mean minimum: 11.2.C (+0.4.C) Mean: 14.7.C (-0.5.C) Rainfall: 145mm (205%) Sunshine: 80 hours (51%)
  18. Central/eastern Scotland missed the warm spell in July 2012 temperatures were just slightly above July 2012 reached just 22.6.C on the 25th, August however did improve slightly being the warmest since 2004 at the time with some good warm spells but none exceptional we hit just shy of 25.C on the 11th/18th/19th. But August remained very wet though not dull
  19. Pretty sure July 2009 was the wettest on record for Wales and South West England.
  20. I recorded a high of 26.3.C on the 27th May which was the warmest day of 2012. Then on the 3rd of June the maximum was 11.8.C.
  21. True but no one will have been alive now to remember it. But yes August 1912 was a shocker
  22. Looking back has there ever been a worse summer month than June 2012 (ie cold, wet, dull windy), still remember this month extremely well with the very cold nights right at the start. 3.7.C on the 2nd, then the unseasonably windy weather around the 7-8th. Then the rest of the month being absolutely atrocious weather wise with cold, wet days and no warmth. My warmest day that month only reached 20.C and to only hit 20.C once in a summer month has never happened since I began recording in 1994. It ranked as the coldest June since probably 1972 locally, was fifth wettest behind 2017, 2002, 2007, 1998 and second dullest behind 2007. Any memories of this month, was there any worse ones? Mean maximum: 15.4.C (-2.8.C) Mean minimum: 8.7.C (-0.5.C) Mean: 12.1.C (-1.7.C) Rainfall: 116mm (180%) Sunshine: 93 hours (56%)
  23. True August lacked any real heat but late June/early July was fantastic up here. 22nd June: 23.2.C 23rd June: 24.8.C 24th June: 26.4.C 25th June: 22.9.C 26th June: 23.4.C 27th June: 23.2.C 28th June: 26.6.C 29th June: 27.1.C 30th June: 27.3.C 1st July: 28.2.C 2nd July: 29.4.C (warmest day of the year) 3rd July: 26.0.C 4th July: 24.5.C.
