  1. August itself was the worst month for me although it was fairly average though wet. It had the highest number of overcast, wet days rather than big showers. Although if I remember right I’m pretty sure this was a very dry and quite warm August in the south-east however south-western Scotland, Northern Ireland and north-west England had an appuling month. Glasgow was hit badly with rain and Eskdalemuir recorded 15 inches of rain.
  2. Scanning through some posts and it got me thinking a lot of people slate summer 2009 as being an appalling summer. I have good memories of that summer, I do remember it being rather wet (July especially) but rarely cool or dull. The rain fell in very sharp showers often during the evening which left the days rather pleasant, particularly during late June/early July and around the end of August. June 2009 Mean maximum: 19.6.C (+1.5.C) Mean minimum: 9.8.C (+0.7.C) Mean: 14.7.C (+1.1.C) Rainfall: 43mm (64%) Sunshine: 183 hours (112%) July 2009 Mean maximum: 20.7.C (+0.6.C) Mean minimum: 11.4.C (+0.3.C) Mean: 16.1.C (+0.5.C) Rainfall: 106mm (204%) Sunshine: 192 hours (109%) August 2009 Mean maximum: 19.8.C (+0.3.C) Mean minimum: 11.3.C (+0.6.C) Mean: 15.6.C (+0.4.C) Rainfall: 99mm (139%) Sunshine: 153 hours (94%) Summer 2009 Mean maximum: 20.0.C (+0.8.C) Mean minimum: 10.9.C (+0.5.C) Mean: 15.5.C (+0.7.C) Rainfall: 248mm (136%) Sunshine: 528 hours (105%) Whats your thoughts???
  3. Very sunny after a cloudy start and very warm at 27.2.C
  4. Max: 25.4.C Min: 13.8.C Mean: 19.6.C A fairly cloudy and muggy start before becoming sunnier with still some high cloud and turning warm, currently clouding over slightly with temperature at 19.1.C
  5. Not really I can still remember it well, snowed in for days had to walk a 90 minute road trip to a supermarket in a foot to find they had run out of milk
  6. Nope I think after the winter/early spring snow and cold the heat has been great. We’ve not had any exceptionally warm weather for about a week now. Most days temperatures have been around 22.C-27.C which for central Scotland is very respectable normally it would only stay that warm for a few days but it’s been the norm since the middle of May. Although yes it did get too hot up here for a while at the end of June we had 2 days where it got above 30.C.
  7. It probably depends whereabouts you are in the UK for me anything above 14/15.C as a minimum is too hot. Which for people in London and the south would probably laugh at as that probably typical for down there. So far this year the warmest night was 16.4.C on the 8th July. One of the perks of being inland in a smallish town in Scotland you can still get very warm days but rarely uncomfortable nights. My record for warmest night is 19.3.C in August 2004. Also I think it also depends how hot it is when you go to bed. It was still 22.C here at 10pm a few nights ago but it dropped to 13.C by 1am. We’ve been very fortunate this summer having some very warm days but very warm nights few and far between.
  8. Clear with a slight breeze but very warm up to 24.C.
  9. Hazy sunshine after a mild start. Temperature currently 17.9.C.
  10. 1998, 2002, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2014 1998: Aside from a very mild, sunny spell in February and some snow in April the year was pretty much the same, wet, cloudy and mild, the summer that year was also pretty poor. 2002: Definitely the worst year weather wise a very, very wet and dull year over 50 inches of rain compare to 33 and only around 1,100 hours of sunshine compare to a about 1,400. Can’t recall anything interesting about this year, aside from a thundery August and a notably dry but dull September. November to December was appallingly bad only recorded 41 hours of sunshine from these two months. 2008: A similar year to 1998 although the spring was interesting with a very warm May, October and December were quite interesting though and December was cold and notably snowy. 2011: Very poor other than the April that year, summer was very bad wet, very cool and quite dull, the autumn heat only lasted 3 days as well. 2012: Probably down to the very wet and dull April-July period, March was a fantastic month however, the autumn as well was also frosty. 2014: Ridiculously mild, very little cold weather also like 2002 very dull and wet, July was the only good month that year, the lowest temperature I recorded that year was only -4.1.C and there were no days below freezing.
  11. First notable heavy rain for weeks currently, looks to be slowly brightening up and rain easing coolest it’s been for a while only currently 17.9.C.
  12. December 2010 was better and more severe, although the rest of the winter wasn’t fantastic, January was generally cold and dull and after a thaw midmonth there was very little snow and February 2011 was atrocious very mild, wet, dull and windy. 2009-10 was better for its longevity and was the best winter I can remember. Although Decembers 2010 statistics are incredible. Mean maximum: 0.6.C (-6.3.C) Mean minimum: -7.2.C (-7.1.C) Mean: -3.3.C (-6.7.C) Rainfall: 34mm (39%) Sunshine: 49 hours (157%) December 2010 also holds my coldest night of -18.1.C on the 6th, lowest daytime maximum of -8.3.C on the 2nd and greatest snow depth of 49cm.
  13. Sunny start but becoming more hazy temperature of 22.2.C
  14. Absolutely no rain between 19th June-12th July, this was helped by some drizzle early morning on the 12th and some light rain on the 15th. Not quite as long as last year where I recorded no rain from 15th April-12th May.
  15. Sunnier day after a muggy and drizzly day yesterday, temperature of 13.1.C overnight to a high of 22.0.C now
  16. December 2009: Mean maximum: 4.3.C (-2.7.C) Mean Minimum: -3.3.C (-3.8.C) Mean: 0.5.C (-3.3.C) Rainfall: 58mm (67%) Sunshine: 19 hours (61%) January 2010: Mean maximum: 3.7.C (-3.2.C) Mean minimum: -3.2.C (-3.2.C) Mean: 0.3.C (-3.2.C) Rainfall: 64mm (60%) Sunshine: 63 hours (137%) February 2010: Mean maximum: 4.6.C (-2.5.C) Mean minimum: -2.9.C (-2.7.C) Mean: 0.9.C (-2.6.C) Rainfall: 32mm (57%) Sunshine: 92 hours (124%) Defintely the best winter I’ve experienced, snow lay from 16th December until 14th Januarythen again from 23rd January until the 6th Febuary before finally the 17th until the 2nd March. Some exceptionally low temperatures as well with a maximum of only -6.2.C and a minimum of -16.3.C on the 29th December, then a minimum of -17.1.C and a maximum of only -6.6.C on the 5th Janaury and a minimum of -14.1.C on the 19th February. Snow depth peaked at 42cm on the 28th December. What’s your thoughts?
  17. First rainfall since June 19th, 0.7mm recorded between 5:30-9:00am coolest day since June 23rd with a maximum of 19.0.C, clearing skies now after a overcast day
  18. September: To begin rather unsettled and cool before a two week warm and sunny spell before a cool and sunny last week. October: Wet, windy, cloudy and mild for the majority of the month, with a cold and sunny end. November: Cold start before becoming mild and unsettled and a very cold last week with some very severe frosts.
  19. More noticeable up here cause exceptionally mild nights are very rare, I’d say a minimum over 15.C is uncomfortable but that’s usually a typical summer in London, so far this year for me the warmest night Ian 14.8.C, last year it was 17.4.C.
  20. We had a very good thunderstorm back on June 1st which lasted 30 minutes and produced 21mm of rain which brought some flooding to the area there was some fantastic flashes of lightning and very loud claps of thunder. Reminded me a lot of the storms of August 2004.
  21. I can see autumn being very wet this year as well, we’ve not had a wet autumn for a long time, the last autumn that was slightly wetter than average was 2011 with autumn 2006 being the last wet autumn.
  22. Coolest day since June 23rd maximum currently at 20.8.C, more overcast than recently but still dry and feeling warm, that’s 17 days over 20.C in the area longest spell since 2013.
  23. That’s true, I was wondering about other people’s warmest recorded
  24. No rainfall in my area since June 19th, and the next rain forecast is likely to be July 21st an even then it’s only 30% likely. Rainfall totals so far this year. January: 113mm (118%) February: 28mm (50%) March: 83mm (146%) April: 44mm (96%) May: 19mm (37%) June: 41mm (66%) July: 0mm (0%) 2018: 328mm (73%) Overall quite dry although not expectionally so. But not much rain in the foresable future
  25. For me: June: 17.8.C (30th June 2015) July: 18.1.C (17th July 2006) August: 19.3.C (7th August 2004)
