00z nothing short of awesome, incredible potential through both realistic timeframes right up to the end of FI. no end to the cold in sight, as muted elsewhere the cold pool is not going anywhere fast.
based on what lewis? i just cant see anything to suggest anything other than a cm or two at the most. not even mentioned it to my son, feel it will be a non event (for now anyway)
painfully slow progression south, no doubt when they do come south they will whizz straight past.... nothing new though, should get used to it Barton on humber
the point i made on here last night was that yes its worrying, but very different from 2007 in the fact that the rain fell on already saturated ground then. My rain gauge hardly moved for 6-7 weeks prior to the storms of the last 10 days or so. i think be prepared, knowing Hull's record of the past. personally i will be watching it closely.
I agree, however the water table is much lower this time than in 2007. up to two weeks ago we hadnt had any appreciable rainfall for 7 weeks. i think it will take an awful lot for a repeat of 2007 - hope not all the same.
and another day of no rainfall. Immingham this morning had a downpour for 15 mins, 12 miles away - not a drop. i think we have a rainfall forcefield never mind a storm one!
yes reef, really odd. i was playing cricket at Brigg and it was torrential rain. 8 miles north at Barton - not a drop of rain today. Only 7mm on Friday night for us this weekend.
really pleasantly suprised to say that at last i have seen heavy snow, about 2-3 inches of laying snow at sea level.
cleared now and no doubt a thaw sooner rather than later
as they say better late than never.
the 850's are increasing all the time, accord to NW extrra radar overlay, has been -7 , now about -6.4 soon to be -6 and climbing quite rapidly. I expect to see some sleetiness in the next few hours at lower levels anyway.
still snowing here, not far off an inch i suppose, i would call this a bonus. Make the most of it, i think the channel low will be a tad too marginal for us at lower levels.
still moderate but nothing special here, looks interesting a little further south, horncastle area etc, something a little heavier on the way as it stands before it clears about 10pm
moderate snow falling here for about 30 mins, getting heavier as i type, laying on pavements and grass but so far not the roads. Snow here, at sea level, with the weather coming from the west is a rarity, i am quite pleasantly suprised.
