Oh well never mind. I've a lemon and lime tree that needs a few more weeks of frost free weather to produce the perfect fruit for harvest. Looks perfect weather for this moving forward.

Heavy snow in Portsmouth now, not too shabby.

I normally grab a month at the beginning of the growing season to start my tomatoes etc... off as being on the south coast we normally avoid any late frosts, but this year has been a disaster. Last week a nasty frost killed off the new shoots on the citrus tress and the gale yesterday blew all the small lemons off. Having said that what fell out the sky was minimal and the wind today has dried everything out.

In my book we have had one proper summer in the last 15 years and two in 25 years. We seem to get all sorts of crap. Floods. Cold. The one thing we never get is nine or ten weeks of glorious hot and humid weather with temps up in the high 20's at least. Shorts. T shirts. B B Q 's. Air con. Sun screen What is the point in the UK. It is just endless cold miserable dross.
What do you expect when you live on a little island exposed to the Atlantic at a northern latitude?

london temps lol 24c is a bog standard cool summer day here these days
Agreed, 24c is not very inspiring. The general theme appears to be rather wet at times and cool. Nothing great, but futile to right off the whole of summer based on a cool wet week at the beginning of May.

I agree, April has been a fantastic month weather wise, lovely cool nights and mornings, plenty of sunshine and a bit of warmth for those who like it. Really really struggling to see how anybody could complain....its April.
I'm very happy to complain, cold frosty nights, chill winds and below average temperatures. It might be warm in a sheltered position due to the strengthening sun, but in reality temperatures are poor and below average.

Its official this April is snowier than the dreadful BFTE we had in Feb given we've had one brief snow/graupel shower. Shows just how rubbish our climate is, can't snow in winter when properly cold and when cold is the last thing anyone wants it snows. Can't wait to move to warmer clims.....
The much overhyped BFTE (watered down mark 2) had dew points closer to -4, whereas today the DP has been closer to -13, so much more conducive to something wintry.

More big fluffy flakes in Portsmouth, much better result than the easterly that originated in Greece earlier this year.

Lovely big fluffy flakes fell for about 20 minutes in Portsmouth.

well its so cold outside its raining, the sign of things to come, lol
Fret not, someone on the mod thread will come out with a D16 chart to get peoples hopes up.

Do these ensemble charts ever come to fruition as it always seem be these charts that are belters?
Generally not, hence why we are not currently buried in snow. Nothing like a D10 to get people in hysterics.

Spot on. The coming weeks look mainly dry with periods of rain, sleet and borderline snow. Anything "banked" hasn't come off. Temperatures will be average or just below, but certainly no ice age.

You have to laugh, 6 hours ago the gfs was a laughing stock of the model world, this evening it shows an easterly and is god!
Fickle bunch on there aren't they. A lot of them were banking charts that would have buried us in snow already, now they are looking well into January for some snow. Funny old world.

A few of us have been battling the tide in the MOD thread for ages, but people just aren't having it. If force of willpower counted for anything we would be buried, but in the real world a bit a wet snow / sleet for most is about the best on offer.
It's certainly a mad house in the Mod thread, they just won't be beaten will they. Never mind i'm sure a Narnia scenario at D10 will crop up to get them banging the same old drum again...

looks like that on EC too, maybe firming up, those NW of say St Albans to miss out
Looking at this, everyone saying "bank" on the model thread look like missing out. We will have to see what happens.

Is this your first day on net weather
No, just having a belly laugh at how people clutch at straws.

Oh my they are now chasing D16 charts in the model thread.

I'd love to see half a metre of snow, just to see what Commander in Chief Bojo does to get the country moving again (apparently it's a nailed on certainty according to the model thread) but lets keep it real, the upcoming week will be chilly at times, with the chance of some marginal snow, but nothing out of the ordinary.

The hero worshiping and stuff on the model threat is actually gringe worthy from grown men, jesus wept
You wouldn't mind if any of them ever admitted they were wrong and actually didn't have a clue. They are now looking for D10 charts (again) getting all moist with the thought of snow.

I know! All these people are in for a shock! Mild wet and zonal
Perhaps not zonal, but a lot of people will end up with egg on face. Lots of people banking a D10 chart ten days ago are now banking a D10 for ten days times. It's a never ending chase for people and before you know it spring will have sprung.

Genuinely if this came off for us on the south coast, I would retire from snow chasing.
nuff said.... was it bill farkin who used to say nuff said??? Me and my sister @Isleofwightsnowgal74where having a chat about it earlier. Can anyone remember him?? Where is that guy?
Really, half a cm?

Why do the same people constantly feel the need to remind everyone its at day 8 or 10? Genuine question.
Atlantic amplification is fairly reliably modelled, of course we could still end up being unlucky but you have to say it looks absolutely primed.
Because it's so far off it hardly ever verifies and people end up with egg on their face. Happens every year, be it hot summer weather or snowy winter forecasts.

It's absurd isn't it. Each one to there own I guess, but reality has to kick in somewhere. For what it is worth not much in the way of cold has ever been shown to be coming to the UK. I can see a lot of disappointed people in the next few days. Xmas is likely to be a fairly mobile and mild few days with bouts of rain.
