Think I am on the only one looking forward to a bit of sunshine and hot weather!
Its currently cool and wet here in north Staffordshire so I can’t wait for 27c and sunshine this coming Sunday
Same here. I love a 'nice summer day' as we used to call them. Now everyone's running around in a panic - scared witless by METO warnings - once it gets over 30c.
1976: "Yaaay, it's 30c, let's have an ice-cream and jump in the river"
2022: “METO Heat-Health Alert - stay indoors or you'll burn to death"

Literally thousands could die though, that's the point.
Remember Aug 2020 saw 2500 excess deaths die to that heatwave, Aug 2003 in France was 10k.
Heat kills the vulnerable, hence the warnings!
Ehhh? It's only mid-30s. I doubt very much that 'thousands will die'

Autumn's all around us already if you know where to look. Elderflower has turned to Elderberry, bramble bushes are in flower with Blackberry buds, my apple trees are sagging under the weight of this year's crop and Lords n' Ladies are popping up in the shaded areas of the garden.
Conkers, hazel nuts and sweet chestnuts are swelling, and the wheat fields that surround our barn are as golden as they can be - just waiting for the Combine to do its work now, which is only days away - one of my favourite sights of the season. Rowan berries, sloes, hawthorns are all on the cusp of turning from green into glorious Autumn ripeness.
In about six weeks time, the TV weather forecasters will be talking about "air frosts in the isolated Glens of Scotland"........can't wait.

Morning everyone.
Well I have seen it with my own eyes! The sun’s southernward trek is underway at both ends of the day!
Yesterday evening I went for a walk across the fields to watch the sunset. The top photo was taken on the 27th June, the bottom photo was taken, in exactly the same place but ten day’s later, (last night) on the 7th of July. Also whilst walking home, I noticed it more dusky at 22:00.
Also for the record, I was up at 04:55 this morning, (as the dog wanted out) and although very bright, the sun wasn’t even above the horizon! Where as this time last week, it would have been.
Nearly Christmas.....

It'll hopefully hit 25c here later today. I'm surprised that the climate loons haven't issued a weather warning yet !!

Dry, hot weather's vital for the next 2-3wks if farmers are to get the wheat/barley harvest in on time. Any rain now will mean that the crop has to be put into a very expensive, fuel-fired grain dryer to drive the moisture off, thus driving down profit which will be offset by a rise in prices. We're already staring at a huge increase in grain prices due to the near total collapse of the Ukrainian farming sector.

Time's marching on, our cherries are now edible - first fruits of the season !! Apples, pears and plums swelling nicely and I spotted the first blackberries to emerge from their blossom this morning. Wheat and barley are ripening well in the fields below us with a view to a mid-July harvest.
The Autumn thread will be up before we know it......
