  1. Flash of lightening and crack of thunder literally just as I reached the beach in Brighton.
  2. We currently have grey, overcast skies here in Brighton. There was also a shower about 30 mins ago, but no thunder. The air does feel very unstable, so my fingers are still crossed for later this evening.
  3. True, also it’s currently far too warm for any of these cells to make it across the channel, they’ll be stripped of any moisture. Nocturnal cooling is a must in these plume situations.
  4. Probably a false positive. However, humidity could trigger some activity.
  5. Kind of glad that I’m in Brighton as current modelling suggests I’m right in the firing line. Although, I’m sure it will be subject to change as we progress closer to this evening. With the intensity of this plume, I reckon some of these storms may be quite intense with impressive light-shows. My plan is to set my camera up on the beach around half 7 and get some footage of the incoming storms. I’m then considering heading further inland later and getting some more footage from a more elevated position. Hopefully, I’ll have some decent footage to share with you.
  6. Wind gusts easily reaching 35-40 mph, maybe more, at the moment here in Brighton.
  7. Look at this potential hook over Brighton ~30 mins ago. There were some very powerful gusts of wind around this time, and torrential rain. (which is still going)
  8. It's looking intense for the channel in the coming days. Those isobars are very tight. Its already extremely blustery and wet down here in Brighton, so it'll be interesting to see what happens at its full intensity.
  9. Definite shelf cloud developing over me, very much an outflow dominant system. Will try and get photo if I can.
  10. Mental rainfall here in VW. Literally came out of nowhere with a couple of hits of thunder.
  11. Looks like a wall cloud, but could be a developing shelf cloud.
  12. Yeah, I'm watching the opposite side of all that. Big towers.
  13. Yes, this year has been awful for TS down South. The frequency and potency, especially in terms of electrical activity, has been poor. Last night was probably the best night for down in the South East, with that Reading cell, but not even that compared to the storms that passed over/near me last year. Footage attached of one of July's amazing elevated storms, last year (courtesy of my brother). It would be interesting to look at the conditions, both regional and national, to see if there is any trend to why certain places were blessed with storms, and the South East was sucked dry. Personally, I think there wasn't enough moisture in the air in certain areas in the SE to feed the storms. I watched many TS over the past couple of days head straight towards me then just collapse. The interesting thing was that all the storms that either hit or passed near me came from a SW direction off the North Sea (not channel) and travelled NW through Essex and into London. In other words, they would gather moisture from the North Sea, intensify for a bit inland, then collapse when they came into drier air. In conclusion, I think this extreme heat actually was a detriment to storm development in the SE, drying out the air too much. I think these areas in Wales and NW England had more favourable conditions for storm development, with more moisture and low pressure areas to trigger these storms. Snapchat-314979542.mp4
  14. Sorry, bad wording by me. I meant does anyone have any footage etc from that cell? It only passed me, so I didn't see much other than distant lightening.
  15. Footage, anything from that Berkshire/Buckinghamshire cell. I've been watching it for the past 45 mins here in Surrey. Consistent, bright lightening.
  16. Beautiful, photogenic structure towards Reading (my vantage point is from Bracknell).
  17. Looks like the London cell might be splitting, with the northern half bowing. Yes, I know my radar is 20 mins off. Won't update for some reason.
  18. Huge cell travelling across London towards me. Looks like a direct hit on radar. Can already here the thunder.
  19. Storms around me always seem track the same way. NW through West London, into Buckinghamshire and away. Wonder if its the topography or something.
  20. Couple of loud rumbles and some heavy rain over me. Nothing too exciting. And, it's just collapsed right over me lol.
  21. Issue is CIN is sitting around 200 around most of Southern England into the late evening, so convection will be impeded quite a bit, killing most activity off. Like you said, the outflow might bring hope. I'm still optimistic we may see some night activity.
