Strange watching the radar animation with the front moving north and the convection off the sea just mashing into it from the east.

Still windy here and what snow is falling is blowing around like powder.

A few flakes starting here now and still some patchy snow cover from the lucky hit snow shower early this morning.

Rating this winter,
What are you all rating this winter out of 10
My honest opinion is 2
I would of gone 1 but we have seen a few light snow showers and had some frosty nights, I have seen winters that have produced absolutely nothing, so I've gone for 2. We have had nothing of interest weather wise in teesside since last summer's 40 degrees. I'm very disappointed I was hoping for much more. Sorry for the negative post but I'm just so let down by our winters now.
For my location this has been the most snowless winter of the last 10 years (December-February) with only 7 days when falling snow was observed.
There was a couple of decent cold spells though so i'll give it 3/10.

Amber snow warning issued for Durham from 3pm tomorrow to 12:00 Friday
Heavy snow is likely to cause significant disruption on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning
What to expect
- Travel delays on roads, stranding some vehicles and passengers
- Some delays and cancellations to rail and air travel are likely
- There is a good chance that some rural communities could become cut off
- Power cuts are likely and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected
Snow is expected to develop over northern England on Thursday morning, becoming persistent through the afternoon and overnight into early Friday morning before slowly easing. Residual impacts from snowfall are expected to persist through Friday morning. 10-20 cm of snow is expected to fall quite widely, with some places seeing 30-40 cm. Strong easterly winds are expected to accompany this snow, leading to blizzards and drifting of lying snow.

Pretty much all the models get snow into the region for tomorrow and friday now, including ECM,so no doubt updated biblical snow warnings to come this morning from the met office.
UKV has some decent looking showers moving in from the north sea this afternoon and overnight as well.
Down to radar watching now.
