  1. More strikes than Germany! http://www.lightningmaps.org/realtime?lang=en
  2. Not exactly a storm-fest so far,but it does feel like one of those days when things will develop quickly when it gets going.
  3. Quite a large clear slot across the middle of the country with temperatures in parts of the Midlands already up to 25c,so more energy available (potentially) than was forecast.
  4. Only issued at 10.50am this morning so certainly raises the interest level for today.
  5. Groundhog day. http://www.lightningmaps.org/realtime?lang=en
  6. Certainly a big increase in dew-points as we head towards the weekend,so feeling much more humid than of late. Helen Willets used the phrase "big thunderstorms" on a broadcast earlier.
  7. Big storm over Germany for a change. http://www.lightningmaps.org/realtime?lang=en
  8. I gave up BA and looked for something easier...http://www.holmesdale.net/images/features/where'skember.gif CPC 8-14 dayer has the trough to the west of the UK,although uncomfortably close. http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/814day/500mb.php
  9. Pretty much constant lightning from that storm over Germany.
  10. Had a torrential downpour here about half an hour ago which didn't look like much on radar but still managed to produce some hail before it cleared away. Another interesting day tomorrow with that trough lying across Eastern areas.
  11. A nice arc of showers up in the Borders at the moment with a fair few strikes.
  12. 10mb temperatures are a bit lower than normal over the polar regions at the moment. Perhaps an early cooling this year?
  13. Great video, lightning flashing, thunder rolling, dogs howling. I thought Peter Cushing was going appear at the end.
  14. Things looking quite tranquil in the stratosphere at the moment... http://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/isobaric/10hPa/orthographic=-2.93,84.73,512
  15. GFS the odd one out this evening with its midweek Azores ridge with the UK looking to be in the firing line for troughing thanks to strong heights to SW and NE. UKMO.. ECM.. GFS..
  16. Comparing the 850 hpa temp.anomalies between the NAEFS and the ECM mean at day 10 reveals that the ECM has indeed blew a fuse. naefs.. ecm..
  17. An unsettled run from the GEM this morning and looks on a similar theme to the 120 hrs fax issued last night with LP's being forced under the Northern blocking towards the UK. A rather un-seasonal look to the start of July at the end of the run as well. http://modeles.meteociel.fr/modeles/gem/runs/2014062200/gem-0-234.png?00
  18. Trough forecast to be lying across Eastern England on Monday might create some interest although lacking some energy on the face of it.
  19. Looks to be a weak trough lying across parts of Scotland and Northern England at the moment which is producing the odd heavy shower and storm. UKV model picked them out pretty well. nmm cape/li
  20. A small cell producing some strikes NE of Carlisle now.
