Yay, this is fantastic. Bright white cloud to cloud right across the sky and a pink flash too. Proper shower now but no hail.

Gone very dark here, convective blobs falling, escaped all the action so far, more on its way?

Drove out to a high vantage point, remained on the edge of it here Macc, but was close enough for me to get off the hill and back to my car.
3 CGs observed, closest was near Congleton, saw a flash that arched upward like a smiley face over Manchester way. Unfortunately no definition in structure over Manchester, a couple of pics anyway.

Back in the safety of my mobile Faraday cage. 3 CGs observed, storm now N of me and it's as black as owt over Manchester.

Rain not too far away now, Views towards Stoke now erased out with rainfall. Time to get off this hill.

I'm just in the Peak District east of Macc. Views are hindered by haze, can't see any definitive structures from my vantage point. Cloud is getting darker to the south. Skyscrapers of Manchester behind me are disappearing in the haze.

@weatherobsuk Bit the bullet, I'm out. Just scrambling up the side of Teggs Nose, should get views out over the Wrekin, Shropshire from there.

weatherobsuk I'm still itching whether to get in the car...... can see the cumulus going up from here in Macc, stats are favourable at 23.4°C and dew point is 13°C, hope you get lucky.

Had overcast very milky skies for a while earlier and temp stalled. Sky been clear for a while and temp now 23.4°C can see cloud bubbling up to my distant SE and SW. Haze and high cirrus to my N.

Good instability aloft here this am, with a little updraft too, a good sign of surface heating conducive to breaking any capping later. A good afternoon for sky and radar watching.

Good morning. Was a warm night, temp no lower than 14°C. Slept OK though.
Pleasant start, was 15.5°C at 7.45am. Some good temps and surface heating will aid the storms later. UKV doesn't look as intense as yesterday
. As @Weather-history has already mentioned, good instability aloft, have a bit of updraft here, sufficient warm air rising should break any capping. An interesting pm ahead, sky, and radar watching. Enjoy your Sunday.

Good Morning
we are in for another warm treat of a day, 8.20am and 18.6°C. Mums shopping all done and dusted.
I was looking for the aurora last night but couldn't see anything. Hopefully tonight I'll get out to a vantage point and try and avoid the a Manchester light glare. Some absolutely fantastic pics though on this thread and the aurora one, what a night.
