  1. Rain Lady Yes, we live in a beautiful country, even though a little trip to Matlock was marred with rain yesterday the scenery was stunning. Every shade of green was evident on the hills, contrasting with pastel lime colours of all types of moss thriving in these wet conditions. Vibrant yellow gorse is in full bloom and the river Wye running along side the A6 was in full spate attracting a few herons, it was a stunning little run out. Damp, 11.1°C currently and dark. Fed up of having the lights on in the house nearly all day too.
  2. severe snowstorm yes, I recall my concerns on how parched the ground was becoming and vegetation was looking a little distressed and thinking a bit of rain wouldn't go amiss
  3. severe snowstorm yes, was a decent run of dry weather, if I remember rightly the NW fared better than the southern half of UK throughout this spell, even the Lakes had a decent run of dry days. Then it rained, and it hasn't stopped.
  4. Morning all. Feels like we've gone a couple of months backwards. Temp is almost half of this time yesterday at 8°C and it's miserably dark. Stepped into half inch of water outside my back door to feed the birds which unusually were not in sight, couldn't even hear any. Could hear the rain without undrawing the curtains. OK, I like all types of weather ( accept strong winds) but l have had my fill of this wet. I'm off to Matlock Bath in bit, hope for a few dry hours. A week now into April and not one single completely dry day/evening yet. Enjoy your Sunday what ever you're doing. oh, there's a glimpse of blue sky, bring it on.
  5. The squall like system moving east is now producing strikes, Derbyshire way, Yorkshire could be in with a shout, it's very intense on the radar.
  6. Chris.R yes, I was keeping an eye out for any lightning, might have had a chance of seeing it, had I been looking in the right direction.
  7. Had an absolute downpour here Macc which set car alarms off and turned the road into a river. Produced sferics as it moved east over Leek, Staffordshire .
  8. Ooh my days, what a torrential downpour, road has become a river, folks are at their windows staring out. I haven't known heavy rain to set car alarms off before but 3 have been set off. Wow.
  9. Yes, heavy rain here now, I know we are only 6 days into April but the month has not produced a single dry day here for me yet.
  10. Had Worse Yes, it looks a bit grim. It's just knocking on Maccs doors as I type, it will feel squally in these gusts.
  11. Blustery and sunny, it didn't make 19°C here, maxed at 17.5°C. Rostherne 16.7°C. Saw a number of bees buzzing about today, the first for me this year. This bee was one of the biggest I've ever seen.
  12. So, the UK has hit 20°C currently, need some sunshine here to boost the NW first 20°C.
  13. Breached 16°C here, the cloud is muting any sunshine though. Really pleasant out, there's some fantastic Magnolia trees about in bloom. Messy when they shed though.
  14. Morning all. Not quite 6am and it's 14,2°C. Can hear the wind gusting outside, 996mb and falling. Sunrise in half an hour, it's not raining 🌬 Edit, Man Airport just tipped 15°C at 6.05am. Going to feel quite warm today in any sun.
  15. Had Worse both my sisters gardens have been under water in parts for months. One cut out a drainage channel to divert water flow off to the path, this worked initially, she is back to square one. My other sister and brother in law had a suggestion to to introduce hundreds of worms to their lawn, this they did just this week. They had to make numerous holes and put the worms in by hand. Interesting to see if this helps drainage.
  16. Yes, been a typical April day, sunshine and showers with some warmth. Pleasant evening here, a bit blowy. Didn't quite make 16°C at Rostherne, although Man Airport did.
  17. Rain through night eased off around 6am. Overcast with the occasional burst of sun, rain moving in later from the west. Bit windy here and a mild temp of 14.2°C.
  18. matty40s I think Friday's low is called Olivia, named by the Portuguese. Saturday is a different deep low, please anyone correct me if I'm wrong. Are you visiting the NW this weekend then?
  19. Joe Snow yes, looking forward to Saturday, bulk of the day looks dry. It'll be windy, but a warm wind, nice temps to enjoy.
  20. Morning all. Rain first thing has since stopped. 7°C, everywhere looks miserable and damp. Daughter fed up with cleaning her 3 dogs up after a muddy walk in the park. Pic from Saturday, mud in the sun, . @*Stormforce~beka* hope you are feeling better today. Have a safe journey home.
  21. It's tipping down here, was going to venture out for some fat balls for the birds, they can whistle.
  22. Morning, mild, damp and grey, hardly a breeze, 11°C. Endless LP dominance.
  23. Yes, wasn't too bad here today, raining now though. Wet outlook with things warming up a bit. Last year the max for my area during April was on the 29th, Rostherne recorded 18°C, with 48.6mm rain recorded for the month. Really looking forward to a decent dry spell.
  24. That's it, brightness short lived. Tipping down now, and any potential electrics in this cell lived and died in Stoke.
