  1. The radar shows the precip is virtually here, but nothing is happening yet. The sweet spot for the first wave at least looks like being west of Ledbury in this region. Hereford looks like doing well yet again!
  2. You'll be the West Mids forum's guinea pig then, Serendipity!
  3. Yes, it's a shame that some of the regulars in the Models discussion (or the NW forecasting team for that matter) don't visit the West Mids forum more often to give us their insight into more imminent weather developments than those they usually debate. Not their fault that they don't live in the region though I suppose!
  4. It's been snowing here for hours now but hasn't amounted to much (not that I'm complaining). However, just when it look like it was dying out, it's pepped up over the past 20 minutes or so and I think it's the heaviest snow of the day now.
  5. Rather bizarrely, given the general north-westwards movement of the front, the Netweather radar shows the snow spreading south-westwards towards here from Bromsgrove/Worcester and should be here in a few minutes! Edit: And now it's here - just tiny flakes drifting on the wind at the moment, but definitely snow nonetheless!
  6. I wasn't expecting anything here today given the forecasts, but it looks like it could be possible that it might extend over here later (you're no doubt sensing that bets are being well and truly hedged here!).
  7. Can I just aggravate everyone by saying the precip that's going to cause all the excitement tomorrow doesn't look like much on the radar out to the west at present!
  8. The red warning area seems to be very small and specific. Given the uncertainty that there's been all week, and which has continued today, I can't see the basis on which they're able to confine it just to this small area (which is largely mountainous I accept).
  9. Neither can I given what was reported north-east of here, but it's true.
  10. The heaviest precip of the day (according to the radar) has arrived here now - it's rain even at this height.....
  11. What's recently moved from Stourbridge to Droitwich is now reaching Worcester, but it looks like it will pass just to the east of Malvern Tewkesbury and Cheltenham are looking nicely placed though!
  12. The images below are the M5 at Junction 2 and the M6 between Junctions 6 and 7 - definitely not a night to be out driving throughout the Birmingham area.
  13. The pic below is the M42 between Junctions 1 and 2. It's not looking too clever there at the moment, with worse yet to come probably.
  14. Wouldn't it have been easier to use a ruler?! The snow here has turned to rain now but, like some other places have seen, the snow may return when some heavier precip reaches here. It's been so windy that the snow has blown all over the place, so it's hard to tell how much there's been really, but it's probably less than 2 inches.
  15. Be careful - if you're not back by 4.00, we'll send out a search party!
  16. Suddenly there are large flakes here being blown all over the place in a gusting southerly wind. Good luck fellow Malvernites and everyone else in the region!
  17. I'm no expert, but I think it's just a shower that's ahead of the main band.
  18. Morning all - just wanted to post a wish that as many of you as possible get snow today (if that's what you want of course!). There has to be a strong likelihood of some football, rugby etc matches being abandoned today given the timing of the snowfall, or at least people travelling away from grounds with the weather conditions having markedly deteriorated from when they entered, so please take it steady everyone who is venturing out this afternoon.
  19. Can I join in the Malvernian group hug?! I've noticed a lot in recent months that precip has typically managed to pass by to the north or south of the Malvern Hills and avoid them somehow, but maybe it will be different overnight. No counting chickens though, I think we'll just have to wait and see what happens. If Cornflake Girl announces tomorrow that she's had a snow frolic, then all will be well with the world!!
  20. Ben Rich's forecast on the BBC Midlands news updates this morning stated that some places in the Midlands might get as much as 4 inches of snow today, which surprised me given the temps. Looking at the graphics behind him, the most likely area for that would seem to be the Cotswolds, but it was also showing snow just east of both Hereford and Worcester, so maybe those of us on the Malverns might see something today. Having said that, there's nothing much out to the west on the radar at present.
  21. Thanks for taking the trouble to post this interesting summary, Nick. The Model Output Discussion often has its gaze a week or more ahead, which leaves a bit of a void on the forums between what the weather will do in the next day or two and what might happen six or seven days ahead. Therefore, I think it's very useful to have threads like this one which fill the gap.
  22. The BBC forecasts are talking about rain moving in from the west tomorrow and the potential for freezing rain etc as it meets the very cold air when it makes landfall. How far east are people expecting this front to reach?
