  1. Where's that image from, SnowTornado? Is it a Netweather image?
  2. Which chart are you getting the 12mm info from?
  3. It's wild here - we're up to 4" lying now and no sign of any respite (if that's the right word) yet! A special good luck wish to those over Leicester way, as you often seem to have missed out this winter (or just whinge the most)!
  4. Still going strong here - depth is about 2" now. You should all move here...... .....actually, come to think of it, don't!
  5. Settling here with no problem at all - getting on for an inch lying now although there was some left over from earlier in the week
  6. The flakes are bigger here now and it's started settling.
  7. It's now snowing here - not heavy yet but gradually getting heavier. As this is the leading edge of the precip, it'll be interesting to see if it keeps snowing or turns to sleet/rain as it gets heavier.
  8. The snow has resumed here now - heavy enough to start covering tyre tracks in the road
  9. Snow has almost stopped here now, but the radar suggests there's more precip of whatever it turns out to be to come
  10. Small flakes but moderately heavy snow here currently. We had about half an inch yesterday which was a combination of snow pellets and more fluffy snow, much of which is still lying.
  11. Shouldn't it be possible to build better-wearing road surfaces in this day and age? If naff surfaces are used to save on costs, then councils/government can have no complaints if they get caught out with huge repair bills at some point in the future.
  12. The snow is still going strong here. The lack of posts about snow suggest that it's localised on higher ground. There doesn't even seem to be much going on in Wales where the worst of it was supposed to be.
  13. Snowing heavily here and there's more than an inch lying at present. Looks like we might end up with 2-3".
  14. Not big flakes, but we're having the heaviest snow here at present since overnight. Hardly anything on the radar to account for it, so it just goes to show you can't go entirely by the radar with regard to snowfall.
  15. We need to mobilise and build a wall or dyke or something to keep them out of English Mercia!
  16. I see that East Anglia got taken out of the London & SE forum and has been given its own, along with "3 counties", whichever they are! I agree that the region is big enough to have split East and West forums.
  17. And it only needs someone's car sliding uncontrollably onto a pavement where there happens tp be someone walking/standing or a pedestrian slipping into a road in front of traffic and there could be a serious injury or even fatality. Is it really worth the risk for journeys which aren't actually necessary when it boils down to it?
  18. I agree with you Nick. It's not the same anymore and everyone, people and businesses alike have to accept that, on some occasions, it's futile to attempt to go out. In the final analysis gridlock, accidents and pedestrians falling over hurting themselves is no good for anyone.
  19. Radar suggests it's been snowing all night here and there's still light snow. Drifting makes it difficult to tell, but there must getting on for 9" lying here now. I've been here over 21 years and don't recall there being as much snow as this before.
  20. So near and yet so far for you - I hope it reaches you. There's easily been a further 2 inches here, but it's hard to tell exactly how much as there's a lot of drifting going on too. If it keeps going like this, I'm wondering what we're going to wake up to in the morning! Good luck to all of you who are hoping that this will reach you. It's looking like it's stalled, but the forecast is still for it to push slowly north. Just before 11.00, Alex Deakin spoke of snow persisting in the Birmingham area for much of the day tomorrow, maybe giving a couple of inches.
  21. The snowflakes are small here, but there's quite a strong wind blowing them around as well as some of the lying snow being whipped up, which makes for a mild blizzard during the gusts. The snow is settling readily here, so if could prove interesting if it keeps snowing as there's already a lot still lying from last Tuesday and Sunday night.
