  1. I'm sure the TV news channels will be getting hyper-excited over snow in London. Maybe John Terry will be offering tours of the capital's snowiest areas soon?!
  2. It's looking like the precip could get into Worcs if it doesn't fizzle out, which the Met Office haven't issued a weather warning for. We have about an inch lying here from Saturday night, so that might get a top-up later....
  3. I think John was referring to here: Netweather alerts page
  4. Snowing heavily here at present - large flakes and a strong wind are making it something of a blizzard! I think it will stop pretty soon, but it's good to see!
  5. Despite it raining all day, the snow has just about covered everything that had been exposed by the thaw. It's still snowing heavily and the MO radar would suggest that it's well set in. This is certainly making up for all those winters in recent years with one mild day after another and barely a frost to be seen! :o
  6. It's turned to snow here now and, after very little wind all day, it's blowing quite strongly now with the snow swirling around as a consequence. Not heavy enough to settle (yet) though.
  7. Still raining quite heavily here, but no sign of any sleet. We're in hill fog, so it's hard to see what's happening other than seeing the rain on the window and hearing it on the roof. More of the lying snow has survived than I expected, despite the fact that it's been raining since about 9.00. Sunset pretty soon though, so we'll have to see what happens after that.....
  8. It's a bit late warning now when it's already started happening- people have probably ventured out for the day on the back of their lack of warning this morning..... It's snowing heavily here now, starting to settle on cars and roofs although, for those who know the area, I ventured out to Malvern Link after my last post at 13.55 and it's raining down there with occasional sleet. I would imagine that will change as the temp drops.
  9. Snowing lightly here now - not heavy enough to settle where the lying snow has gone at present, but it is gradually worsening.
  10. It certainly has pepped up, I thought it was just going to quietly fizzle out when I saw the 11.00 radar! Is there anyone in Herefordshire or on the Welsh border around - what's happening there at present?
  11. We'll have to see what happens - the warning page graphic for Sunday now says "no severe weather" for places where it's actually snowing! If the snow's settling, it's always worthy of a warning IMO. ((P.S. I'm a Baggies fan too - the less said about yesterday the better!))
  12. People need to know what's happening *now* and in the next few hours - not what they thought would happen 24 hours ago! There must be plenty of people working at the MO, so it's not asking much to update these warnings every few hours to make them more localised and accurate.
  13. Indeed - the warning that applies to today hasn't been updated for more than 22 hours now. Hopeless.
  14. It didn't thaw here much yesterday, so the overnight snow has increased the lying depth to 5". It's still snowing now and the radar suggests that it may continue for a little while longer yet. Carol Kirkwood's weather map at 8.15 suggests it will have stopped here by 9.00 - can't see it myself. Hope those of you who have to go out today keep safe.
  15. 3.5" minimum depth of snow up here on the Malvern Hills. Despite the MO radar suggesting that it should have stopped a while ago, it's still snowing lightly here.
  16. Much to my surprise (although I should have read the NetWeather forecast!), it's snowing here at present. Not huge snowflakes, but it's quite heavy - enough to have covered everything with a dusting.
  17. Very light snow falling here at the moment. Not enough to accumulate as yet. Looking at the radar, things might liven up here during the night.
  18. It's been snowing heavily in Malvern for about 20 mins now (albeit at 800 feet ASL here), and is settling readily.
  19. Moderate snow here at 850 feet in the Malvern Hills. It's the heaviest snow we've had here since the end of November, and is now settling readily. The temp is just approx 0C. Having just driven into it coming home from Worcester, I can report that it's only rain at lower levels. Looking at the radar, it probably won't last, but you have to make the most of it these days don't you?!
  20. The snow here is much heavier now, and the ground will be completely covered before long if it carries on like this. It's not a white-out by any stretch of the imagination yet though, but fingers crossed!
  21. It's just started snowing here in Malvern (at least it is where I live at approx 800 feet ASL). It's still about -2C here at present, so any snow will settle readily. The snow is only light at present but, looking at the 4.30 Met Office radar, things may well get more interesting for Worcestershire in the next couple of hours.....
  22. The more organised band of snow that the radar has shown crossing much of England during the afternoon has now arrived here. Heavy snowfall saw everything covered here within minutes (albeit at approx 800ft!). The snow band doesn't seem to be very wide though, so I don't suppose it will last long. The temperature here is already at -1C though, so there won't be any overnight thaw, and any further snow during the evening and night will undoubtedly settle on what's now lying. Over to you, Hereford!
  23. Just had a heavy snow shower here - the first since overnight on Friday. Snow showers can be seen dotted about all over the place from here, but none of them are very large and they aren't merging at present to give longer periods of snow. As a result, the snow isn't settling, and there are sunny spells in between which further reduce the chances of any settling. It's a big change to yesterday though, so those of us in the south-west Midlands will have to see what this evening and tonight brings down this way.
  24. Wrong thread! Can some kind soul delete this please?!
  25. There's been a light dusting on the Malvern Hills overnight. I don't know what time it was - I was asleep! There's grey cloud over the Black Mountains at present, but I can't tell if it's snowing or not. There's been no snow as yet either on Hergest Ridge or Clee Hill though.
