  1. Wooo, just had about 30 secs worth of rain :D very small sized... warm rain... with a warm breeze.... urgh... ? Hopefully it's cooling the air down a bit as it evaporates on it's way down to allow something more substantial
  2. According to the radar, I'm currently in the middle of a rain storm... pity it's not reaching the ground
  3. All to the east of me, can see some virga in the distance Keeping an eye on the one by Worcester though, if it keeps going it 'should' (hopefully) come right over me
  4. OOOHHHH! If that keeps traveling in the same direction and keeps going, There's a good chance it'll pass over me
  5. I can see some development to the SE from me now \o/ also some small thin wispy patchy stuff beginning to start overhead (only noticed when the sun dimmed slightly )
  6. Not a cloud in the sky over Stoke on Trent (urgh) , bit of a breeze picking up though. Was going to mow the lawn later this afternoon, but considering almost all the forecasts are putting us in the direct firing line now, looks like it'll have to wait (or at least I'm hoping it will ;D )

  8. Yup Probably the same one, we tended to have dinner around 4/5'ish' o'clock. There was one when I was a kid too, about 30 odd years ago, (not sure if I was in the last year of primary or just starting high school). It was to the North (Mow Cop, Kidsgrove way, like normal) but it had, what I now know as, Anvil crawling lighting. At the time I thought it was really cool because it looked like the coral I'd seen in a nature documentary the day before . Never seen that type of lightning before or since
  9. The last big one I remember is from about 20ish years ago at least, that has stuck with me, mainly because it came from the East, which is something that I'd never seen before or since, (for those that are unfamiliar with the location were on the western edge of the southern tip of the Pennines so any T-storms or easterly weather tends to get stuck on the other side) As it was getting closer I could start to make out a massive wall cloud in-front of it like something from a 'tornado/weather program' So ran inside excitedly to try and get my parents to come out and see it . But was greeted with the 'I don't care about a cloud the Sunday Dinners done now sit down' from my Mother so I was forced to miss the awesome storm because of Sunday Dinner
  10. Ahhh that was nice, just raining now and I'm thoroughly enjoying the Petrichor scent from the open window. Ended up going downstairs and ogling at it out the living room window. Just before it started there was an amazing cloud, looked like a cross between an arcus and a roll cloud stretching across the entire sky from SE to ENE. Looked absolutely fantastic when it was being lit from behind by the lightning.
  11. I'm in Norton about half way up the hill so got an amazing view to the South and SE (or did rather, Mothers just chucked me out of her bedroom because she wants to go bed, honestly some people ;D ). Looks like these are going to miss us just to the west (as per usual) though I did see a couple flashes towards Hanley way. If we get anything it'll be from that direction so I'm crossing my fingers.
  12. Keep an eye on the sky high above them, with lightning that intense there are bound to be some sprites going up
