Got the 50p'er sticky ones coming down, beginning to stick to the road despite it being gritted (though considering how cheap the council is, it's probably more rock than salt. )

Fluffy looking white stuff now rapidly increasing in amount and size.

Just started seeing the odd flake drifting down

Oh! if you run the radar back and forth the small area of precip over Northampton appears to be trying to move in a NE direction, looks like it's trying to form a small low!

You can see the band starting to pivot to a more northerly should be decent this

TBH there seems to be 2 bands of precipitation, the NW/SE frontal line and a SW/NE North sea streamer. The latter appears to be pushing on the NW side of the former and as a result the northern part appears to be moving faster than the more southern part causing it to slowly pivot.

Great BBC update with hours of heavy snow forecast now. On the other hand Met Office says a couple of hours of drizzle. I think met office is overdoing this warm sector, it's brief uppers of -4C.
We have 'Heavy Snow Showers' with it showing snow from 4pm untill midnight

please can someone explain....those showers that have come via stoke were nailed on for me in NW Leics as they have approached they have completely fizzled out? Why why why!!!!!!
Although I would let the weather gods have that one, if I get to see some heavy stuff later, however all that activity in the North Sea looks like it’s going to go to the West of me!!!!!!! Arghhhhhhhhhhhh
For the same reason that storms heading towards us from the SE fizzle out and die.
They go splat on the Pennines (like a bug on a windscreen) and dump it all there. -

Yeah. There was a good few inches of snow by the end of the day. Grid locked traffic across Stoke.
TBH it only takes a few millimetres to gridlock the entirety of Stoke.

Very wet snow here. Tiny flakes.
Got up to 2.5C around our general area about an hour ago, but temp and DP are rapidly dropping now, so should 'improve' quickly

Shefali on West Mids today quoted earlier temps will "plummet" down to -1C tonight, brought a smile my face.
Some of the Wunderground stations near me are already showing 0C now with dewpoints at -0.3 and creeping slowly upwards, gonna be some freezing fog around soon.
Roads already look like sparkling sheets of ice under the streetlights
-
Whelp, temps shot up to about 2.5C around 3 o'clockish when the skies cleared and started a small bit of a melt, but they are now rapidly plummeting so hopefully it'll freeze and stick around long enough for more tomorrow.
-
I see a shower line setting up aimed right at me Fingers crossed it'll snowify as it travels over the Pennines!

Also more sparking up and weather warnings for Wed and Thurs. Not to shabby for us Midlanders.
Supercells and snowstorms, not a bad year at all.

LOL Bus stuck just a couple houses down from me (on the small bank by the shops) blocking the road, started to slide-turn sideways, managed to stop just before s/he hit any cars but can't move now as it will hit one if it does.
Why they've opened up the route is beyond me, yes it is a bus route but we are lucky to see a gritter, and no chance of a plow as the road is plastered with useless cushion speed bumps...
EDIT : Ohhhh started snowing again \o/
-
Stopped here now but radars showing a small blob behind the main blob heading my way so fingers crossed.

Got to be a good inch and a half of new snow so far.
Just checked the snow depth on the car roof as I nipped down shops t'get some milk (any excuse ) and it's sitting at about 5 1/2 inches in total and it's still blitzing it down with 50p'ers.

Snow-on-Trent Round 2 'Ding Ding'
Haven't seen it like this since the 80's!!!

Here in my area of S-O-T not much has meted at all. Car windows have the snow slumped down, but the bottom half of them still have snow over. Road outside still has a slush layer. No visible grass leaves sticking up out of the lawn.
Pavements are going to be murderous ice rinks come morning.

Temps holding steady here at 1C with DP at 0C. Same as this morning during the snowstorm
