+0.1c 5mph N/NW variable 1014mb rising still ice and mush on the roads but the sun got to some of the snow today, running water trickling off roofs etc. Excavated 2 cars from under their igloos and cleared the packed ice from the drive today. I think it all warms up from here on, people are getting tired of being marooned in their houses with restricted bus services etc. and as Bugs would say "that's all folks" !

just looking at the metoffice atlantic chart, this must be one of the longest cold fronts I have seen

dull ovc, starting to get more breezy, been calm for so long it's going to seem strange with more wind (if the forecast is correct !) still snow lying where the sun doesn't shine, pavements very icy in places.

Bright sunny winter morning, snow still lying but thawing and dripping everywhere, +4c in the shade but the sun gets at the weather station which is showing 7.6c ! wind 3-4mph

woke up to about 2-3" snow this morning, thawing now and getting sloppy, various roads closed and blocked by abandoned cars etc.

I remember seeing photos in shop windows in Sorrento of the place covered in snow but think that was a very long time ago I can just look out the window to see snow this morning -

a bit dull this morning, calm 1 - 2 mph and cool 3.8c. not much more you can say about it really ! I just can't get over the huge number of 'cold spell' part 31, 32 33, 34, 199 etc. threads, surely it's just winter and does every square mile of the country need a different thread ? maybe that's why this weather reports thread is so sparcely used
