Just got back from my lunchtime bike ride, started in sunlight, ended in heavy rain, got drenched, a small respite, and now raining hard again.
Looking at the radar, could be rinse and repeat this afternoon,

Some severe and sharp showers passing over Bridlington in the last hour or two, possibly abit of localised flooding out n about,
- 1
-
Had light rain since 19.30, started to intensify in the last hour with an increase in wind for company, garden getting a good soaking at last,

-
Had a light shower here at teatime on the Wolds, nothing that would benefit the garden, more to come later in the week perhaps?
-
Today would be classed as overcast! Mild and dry enough to get a few garden jobs done, then the sun came out after 4pm just in time for a shandy at the local sat in the beer garden
-
Have had persistent heavy rain here since 7pm, been fantastic for the garden, but made the dog walk rather brisk

Yes about 15 mins rain, some rumbles, and a couple of visible flashes here, better than nothing... Looking at storm forecast it seems as if activity is slightly north of that predicted, so maybe not done for the day
Yes looking at the radar maybe abit more activity into the evening,

Under a cracking storm at the moment on the east coast nr Bridlington, thunder and lightning followed by really heavy rain,

Just started here near Bridlington, thunder, lightning and now starting to rain,

Had a nice drop of rain here in the last hour, eased up now, probably not enough to give the garden a proper soaking tho,

Grey overcast day round here, still 20c at 17.30 so pleasant enough to sit out, can't complain tho it has been a stunning last 7 days,
Another grey over cast day, although mild through out the day, the evening turned chilly, perfect for sleeping!

It's certainly been more prolonged than any heatwave we've had since 2018. It's just dragged on and on. I was listening to a Met Office podcast today about the warnings, and they brought up the "nanny state" argument, and they said it's not just about the headline temperatures, it's also about how warm the nights are, the duration of the heatwave and how hot it is relative to average. For example, 3 days of 30C by day and 18C by night in London is not a major cause for concern as most Londonders are used to getting that at least once every summer. Just like how people in Spain are used to at least a few days of high 30's/low 40's once a year. Whereas 30C by day and 20C by night for somewhere like Northern Ireland would be a huge deal, as thier average summer high is only around 19C, much cooler than London.
Can't beat a 15C and sunny day in Spring/Autumn.
Yep, still 23C in my bedroom, way too warm for trousers!
People will moan about whatever they like, I have moaned about heat as well as unseasonably cool temperatures and rain in the past, and will do so again.
Yep, legs are more waterproof than trousers! I'd rather my legs got wet than have to sit about in soggy jeans all day.
Can't have your cake and eat it with UK Summers unfortunately (well most of the time anyway). If the UK summer was just constant low 20's and sun then barely anyone would moan (except perhaps from sheer boredom).
We've had plenty of poor summer months in recent years, esspecially in NW England. July 2015, July 2016, July and August 2017, June 2019, July 2020, just to name a few.
Sounds like disgusting horrendous heat to me but if that's what you enjoy.... I'd much rather have Torquay myself. Anyway, 4 miles north??? With SST's of 26C it must be somewhere abroad!
Thunder when it snows! Won't happen at this time of year though unless you live in the scottish mountains!
Ugh, sounds horribly hot to me, hope you have decent AC... It's been a lovely cool fresh cloudy day here with a high of around 19C, currently around 14C, so much better for sleeping.
A cloudy breezy 19C is so much better than a hot humid sunny 27C imo.
My god what a monologue, had to get new contacts to read all that, f.f.s

I'm sure lightning will be tasty, its got that danger side to it and probably has a bit of a sharp reaction in the tooth but that's what you pay for.
As long as there's cheese on Top it will be grand
