mate I'm used to it living in Cheshire, no rain for 6 weeks now and no thunder since August last year despite us having 13 storm warnings already this summer. I was just expecting so much more tonight based on the amount of attention this event got...oh well
Mate! Maybe u read to much into tonite, i am not being critical, i am a complete novice, who enjoys watching the weather and this thread tonite has been intriguing, so much angst and enjoyment, its better than watching love island

a bit of realism maybe. This storm event got sooo much hype this week it was incredible. I was expecting the Apocalypse. Instead we have had a few distant flashes over the sea and not a single strike on the mainland. As i initially predicted this would be the case. Oh well, lets roll onto the next 'event' which will ultimately let us down again lol
Maybe you should evaluate your expectations and be prepared for disappointment

It’s nice to watch along live even if you aren’t there to see the action, like a little thunderstorm watch party hahaha

Why do some have to be so Bitter and negative, so what if it isn't a storm of the century event, let people enjoy tonight for what it is, surely a distant light show is better than nothing??

I can't get my head around why your calling it a bust?
Maybe because a modicum of fame goes to people's heads

This is a very underwhelming bust for someone who has sat through the biggies (June 2012, July 2015, September 2016, July 2017, July 2017). However that's just my personal perspective.
For which you are entitled, doesn't mean you have to p11s on everyone else's parade

Currently 400 strikes / hour in the channel. It was at 6000 before. Try again another time.

A repeat performance today, cloudy on the moors this morning, glorious on the coast this afternoon and evening.
Yep same as yesterday, the day got better as it wore on, although slightly cooler breeze this evening

Agreed Wold Topper although it took until 1-2pm for the sun to come out at Whitby. However after that, a glorious summer day, but not too hot and stuffy.
It was like a switch was flicked after lunch, but still pleasant and not to stifling with a pleasant breeze,

Still 23c here. Clear blue skies. Gonna be a warm night for sleeping, for sure.
Yep no need for a blanket tonite, although i live in an old chalk built cottage which regulates the heat quite well, thankfully

A few rumbles in the distance looking down the valley towards Malton,

Walking the hound round the village tonite it feels quite mild even though we have steady rain, quite refreshing tbh, although a return to last weeks glorious sunshine would be most welcome!
-
Missed all the rain today, been a lovely day, T-shirt weather when then sun was out, occasionally cloudy but a very useful day, local beer garden was just about tolerable at teatime for a swift few
