    Evening all,

Hope I find yourselves and your Families, well.

Yes, was just thinking the same Daniel.

I can remember the Synoptics of early December, 1995. A few archive charts, from that spell:

Could contain: Plot, Chart, Map, Outdoors, Nature Could contain: Plot, Chart, Outdoors, Nature, Map, Art

If memory serves, on this Day back in 1995, there was a slight Thames Snow Streamer, event.

I lived in Anerley, London S.E.20, at the time. My Girlfriend and myself, had to take our Red Tabby to a Vet's in Beckenham, on that Day.

Poor Joey didn't look too pleased, when we went to collect him later that Afternoon, with Snowflakes swirling around his head!!

But of course that Snowfall was nothing like that of early December, 2010.

I had already moved to Lee at that time, after marrying for the second time.

This was the scene in Biggin Hill, around 10 miles to the South of Lee and 500/600 feet up, on the North Downs:

I'm sure "our" BIGGIN and SCRAT, will remember these scenes!!

A few Days after this Video was shot, I took a trip down to Biggin Hill, which lies in the extreme South of my home Borough of Bromley.

I vividly remember the huge Snowdrifts, just outside the perimeter fence at Biggin Hill Airport.

    Regards,

    Tom Q. 👍

Fantastic videos Tom!  Absolutely bonkers that year.....amazing!  The drifts up at Tatsfield were even bigger.  I remember after a snowy drive in our land rover defender (not many other vehicles would have made it around) and we ended up at Botley Farmhouse....closed!  But, the owner took pity on us and invited us in for drinks and a warm up by the open fire, will never ever forget that year.  Oh and there was snow on the ground on Christmas Day, so we have pictures of the reindeer (and Father Christmas) food and drink in the snow on Christmas eve; magical for our two, at the time, little girls.  Thanks for the trip down memory lane.  Hope all is well Tomx

Hi. I'm new here. I've had a growing interest in weather and weather patterns over the past few years and I've been doing a bit of reading and self-educating to learn more. It's been interesting reading everyone's comments about our recent round of storms.

I live in sunny Slough - as in always sunny. Other than one or two insignificant 5 minute rain showers, we haven't had any rain since late May or early June. Yesterday I watched the storms bypass us in a thin corridor of clear skies while it rained to the south and north just a couple of miles away. Even now, the radar shows possible rain building up over Uxbridge, Maidenhead and Ascot, and there is definitely something going on in Reading - but there is a big clear bubble over Slough.

Anyway, I'm going to go back to 'lurk' mode for now until I learn more - but just wanted to say 'hi'!

    Hi there and welcome 🙂

Finally looks like the garden will get a watering from the skies this week, yellow thunderstorm warnings covering the SE Mon-Weds. But looks like Wednesday may see the greatest chance of widespread thundery downpours, as a slow-moving frontal boundary sets-up.

Glad to see this heat ease and experience weather other than blue skies days on end, storms, my favourite weather, followed by snow.

I certainly hope so, everything is crying out for some rain.  The weather has been beautiful and definitely a summer to remember, but I am looking forward to cooler weather, especially if it brings some good storms!

-2 again this morning.. if we can get a frost from now till it gets colder again early next week this could be the most frosts in a row here since that easterly in 2018 I think, when we had 9 days of frost albiet colder than now.

Frost staying in the shade too, even though we are now above freezing by quite a bit, in part, due to low soil temps as little or no sun this time of year in sheltered spots.

Sun is now well and truly on the gain though now. With each day adding 2 1/2 minutes of daylight . Seems like not a lot but over 30 days that's well over an hour of daylight.. by end March the days are nearly 2.5-3 hours longer than in December.

It's a shame really as we do not aline well in winter with best time of year for snow vs absoulte solar minimum. Usually February is our snowiest part of winter here. However, by late Feb we have gained well over an hour of sunlight from solar minimum on 21st December.

Many times in February despite low temperatures, if you don't have cloud cover it's drip drip of melting snow as the sun really gets to work.

These low temps would be great if we had snow on the ground.  I miss the snow....even one day would be good right now (not asking for a repeat of 2010.....too late now anyhow).
