  1. Heavy Rain 0900 Fri 20 1800 Fri 20 http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/wm/...t_warnings.html Issued at: 0641 Fri 20 Jul This one's for the whole day. I hope your flooding doesn't get any worse
  2. EDIT: not so much forecast because of the rain that's just fallen Sorry, I'm tired this morning! For us they say 20-30mm more rain falling widely, with potential for 40-70mm.
  3. 9.4mm so far here in Cheltenham; looking bleak outside with dark clouds and moderate rain. Occasional distant rumbles of thunder.
  4. New warnings out for a large swathe of the UK from SE up to North Wales: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_...t_warnings.html
  5. Metcheck are currently forecasting 77.9mm rain for Cheltenham tomorrow - more than rain I've ever seen forecast before on there for here or anywhere else I've checked the forecast for!
  6. Hmm,... doesn't look good for Cheltenham!... at least not being at the bottom of the Cotswold escarpment. Could the hills accentuate the rain? Still, should be interesting!

    Snow, snow, snow.

A collection of pictures I have taken from at home and in the Cotswolds during the latest period of heavy snow.

    My bike.

It was fun to ride into the drifts...

I went up again with a friend. The road was gritted so it was easier to get through. Footprints through the snow...

That wasn't hard; you could barely get it open!

    SATURDAY.

From the album: Snow, snow, snow.

I went up twice on 11th Feb. The snow was very thick after Friday's fall. The road was impassible to motor vehicles in the morning, so I walked through with my bike, which was an amazing experience. I went up again in the afternoon with a friend. The road had been gritted by then but the snow was still very deep. It wasn't quite so pretty as there was dense fog. This is the "road" during the morning in one of the more easily passable places.

    Comparison...

From the album: Snow, snow, snow.

This is how deep some of the drifts were on Thursday. (It was worse on Saturday though; I went up in the morning after Friday's snow before the road was gritted and drifts were more than waist height! More pics to come.)

    Drifts

From the album: Snow, snow, snow.

Here are some drifts on Cleeve Hill on Thursday 8th Feb. Bear in mind that the grass is very long, so where it shows, that's still about 5in.

As games was cancelled, I got home at 1:30 and cycled up Cleeve Hill (which is the highest point in the Cotswolds at 330m). This is a view from Aggs Hill (on the way up), at the top of a fairly steep climb.
