I was out at 08:30 this morning to get my covid jab and a combination of the cold and the wind made wearing a short sleeved shirt and waistcoat feel slightly foolish. Should have put trousers on.
Temperature now -0.8deg.C (maybe an ice day!) up from a minimum of -3.4deg.C at 01:13, humidity 63%, wind 2 to 8mph southerly with a max gust of 15mph at 04:14, pressure 1027.8hPa falling slowly, it's currently snizzling under 8/8 cloud cover and the dew point is at -7deg.C.
Beers are lined up for the rugby this afternoon, strap in, here we go again.

Yet another beautiful, sunny, crisp and clear day today, which is nice as I have two family funerals shortly and it feels better to have good weather for them, for some reason, not that I can attend either because I'm shielding but I have video links so that will have to do.
Temperature 3.2deg.C up from a minimum of -1.6deg.C at 04:09. humidity 52%, wind 3 to 7mph southerly with a max gust of 14mph at 04:59, pressure 1032.4hPa falling slowly, no recorded precipitation, cloud cover 2/8 and the dew point is at -6deg.C.
Right, black tie on, first zoomeral at 15:00, second zoomeral at 16:00 and zoompub at 17:00. The rest of the day is sorted.

Whos of yous on the eastern side of the country are looking forward to the Big Thaw then?
("Load the ark Morag! Beans, eggs and black pudding will do. We're going for a sail. I'll arrange the wind...")

Actually, felt quite at home in hospital amongst the 'baw' talk! Mine was a' baw' joint though, completely out of its socket!
Had to go through a procedure, after a few x-rays, to re-locate it! Thankfully, they knocked me out for that. Must have been at least 8 straight hours in there. Not long home.
Anyhoo, what an event eh? I think easily 30cms out front and 40cms out back! (House shelter.)
Currently -2.7c/-4.8c/E/calm.
Glad you're back home.
(I had to scroll back through eleventy-squillion posts to find this. I wouldn't do that for just anyone.)

Another bright and beautiful day here, though a tad chilly.
Temperature 2.9deg.C up from a minimum of -6.4deg.C at 07:31, humidity 65%, wind 2 to 5mph east-southeasterly with a gust of 16mph at 13:47, pressure is 1029.7hPa falling slowly, no precipitation recorded, cloud cover is 1/8 (all to the west) and the dew point is -3deg.C not that it matters with humidity being so low.

The idea of going outside in a dressin goon is mind boggling. Harry Secombe, we salute you.
Ah yes, that'll be Neddie Snawgoon.

Another beautiful, sunny, clear and crisp day with a new sprinkling of snow producing a current depth of very nearly 5mm!

New names for the new gritters have been published. I particularly like "Lord Coldemort" and "You're a Blizzard Harry" as I'm a Harry Snotter fan.

Looks from the radar that some of the heavier showers are making it all the way through to Prestwick, Troon and Barassie via us here in East Ayrshire. Whoop whoop.

Good day fellow Scottie threaders and, well, what a splendid day it is. Beautifully sunny, crisp and clear, just what the doctor ordered. Strangely though, even with no cloud to my east and very little to the west, the BBC weather app tells me that it's snowing now and will continue to do so throughout the rest of the day. The Met Office app, meantime, says I'll be getting random snowfall at 10am, 2pm and 4pm tomorrow. What is the point of these things if they simply spew out pish day by day?
Temperature 1.9deg.C up from -3.2deg.C minimum at 07:56, humidity is 63%, wind 1 to 5mph easterly with a max gust of 13mph at 11:47, pressure is 1015.9 falling slowly, there's been no precipitation today, cloud cover is 1/8 and the dew point is at -4deg.C.
Looks like being a cracking day.

We were being taught in metric from the first year primary in the mid 60s so you have to be pretty ancient (or uneducated?) not to know what a cm looks like!
Is it similar to a centipede? (I'm old too.)

amazing from Tampa but bit of an anticlimax
I don't see the anticlimax. Apart from watching another great Brady offence, I'm fascinated to see if Tampa's defense can shut out Mahomes. Looks like they will.

I had three bottles of assorted Orkney Brewery beers left over from the 6 Nations element of the weekend. Highly recommended, the Orkney ales. Also now finished. I'm moving on to Auchentoshan American Oak single malt whisky for the third quarter. I may not see the fourth quarter...

remembers this is weather forum
Not here, not snowing.
(did I mention that the pitch-side temperature at one of the games I went to in Florida was 110deg.F, which is quite interesting, weather-wise)

id love to go to a game, going to go in next 3 years, maybe combine it with trip to vegas now they have a franchise.
I've been to a couple of games in Tampa plus three at Wembley, two of which had the Patriots there with Brady at the wheel. I met him at their training ground in London and he had real presence.
Tampa look to me to have this for the taking.

It's in Tampa.
This is the first Superbowl where a team has competed in their own stadium.

You're right. I stand corrected. I've been there so I should have recognised it, but when I was there the temperature was 110deg.F pitch side and the place was absolutely hoaching with water boys.

Where's the game? Los Angeles? If so, aren't they about 8 hrs behind GMT? So what time will you be watching then?
I was just thinking cornflakes and malt
It is in Los Angeles and the game has just kicked off. Come on Tampa Bayyyyyy!

Oh dear. Hope it goes well.
Meanwhile, dash and blast it, I've seriously miscalculated on the beer/sport front. It's only blooming Superbowl night and I've left myself with just three more bottles to get through four hours plus of American football. Onto the malt then...
It could be an unsettled night here too.

Well, we don't have beer fridges. We keep our wines and beers in our cellars! (coal cellars!)

Scotland/Alba weather discussion - Jan 2021 onwards

Well, Saturday started well with my jab being quick, easy and painless but then went down hill, first with the rugby and then with a potential ice day being ruined at 23:51 when the temperature went up to 0.1deg.C. Sunday was even worse as my daughter slipped on sheet ice coming out of the house, ironically on her way to doing her shift at the hospital, and ended up with a dislocated shoulder. (Anyone see a pattern here?) Her partner was away for the weekend so I had to get her to A&E. Trying to get her into the Land Rover wasn't easy but the several hour wait at A&E was worse. So, deep breath, reset, and back to weather watching. What a change today.
Temperature currently 8.3deg.C up from a minimum of 4.9deg.C at 03:52 and down from a maximum of 8.8deg.C at 11:37, humidity is 90%, wind 3 to 6mph southerly with a maximum gust of 11mph at 09:30, pressure is 1010.7hPa steady, there's been 0.2mm of rain today and 3.2mm in the last 24 hours and the cloud cover is 8/8.
