Back at devil's dyke in West Sussex again after traveling to Seaford, saw a few decent strike's but the distant lightning show continues. Looking at radar I'm going to be in-between storm's again so may have to call it soon. For those in Dorset seems like you hit the jackpot so well done to you folks down there tonight !!

Currently at Seaford in East Sussex and some pretty unreal lightning here on the seafront! I think I may be heading to birling gap shortly, there's shelter there if it gets bad!

I'm heading towards Seaford/Eastbourne way now, birling gap is usually a good spot or beachy head/holywell retreat near Eastbourne.

Fingers crossed it’s making a beeline for Beachy Head!
I'm at devil's dyke and it's definitely looking more likely us Sussex lot could see something. Seeing pretty prolific lightning from this one up here!

Another massive CG down towards Portsmouth/Southampton way! Quite prolific lightning now visible from the Cherbourg storm too!

Have seen a monster CG down towards Southampton way! Storm moving off the Cherbourg peninsula is producing some faint flashes from up here now too, that's the one I'm keeping an eye on now.

Have re located to the old war fort on top of devil's dyke on top of the downs and can see distant lightning towards isle of wight vicinity now. I have shelter here too if it does get nasty later.

Just starting to rain big drops up here now,sky is looking a bit more favourable too. I also like what's developed quickly to the east of jersey!

More lightning now between hailsham and heathfield now as a rough guess. Can see everything from up here at around 650ft above sea level! Could do with it being a bit closer really!

Wow bright flashes and loud here, suddenly!
That was the one I saw and heard just outside of Eastbourne!
Was definitely definitely towards your vicinity. Looks very moody towards Seaford right now!

Some nice development approaching the Cherbourg peninsula now which I will be keeping an eye on which could bring area's further east into play later.

After seeing how these cells have brewed up over the channel, I knew I was going to pull an all-nighter! It's just started raining here, and I have high hopes for some lightning at 3.
Also, i'm new here, so hi everyone.
Welcome to the group and best of luck with seeing a storm.

Activity is starting to turn East a touch now, looking likely more of Hampshire could be in the mix if it can make it. Meanwhile here just north of Brighton it's raining steadily with one heavy burst for a few minutes.

Looks to be some backbuilding starting to occur and dare I say it something trying to happen near the South East, not convinced we will have a storm here to be fair but anyone between Swanage and Southampton if it survives it might be game on for you guys down there.

I'm now at Barton on sea, and can see distance lightning on the horizon
Will it survive the rest of its journey. Probably not but I'm going to be here to find out
That would also be a very good shout if it can survive the crossing, good luck and hope you get a banger of a storm!

Evening all it's getting towards that time of the year. If that storm in the channel can survive then anyone around Swanage could be getting some decent lightning in a while. If anyone is out in that near area a trip up to Durlston head could be pretty good indeed. It's where I would be headed now if I was down that way!

That's a brilliant shot Zak well done buddy, would have been potentially interesting if there was a stronger structure to the main part of the cell that's for sure!

Might be worth a trip down to the Sea front, just in case this develops further
Metoffice do have my location down for a storm at around 1/2 am could this be the 3rd time in just a few days?
I've just noticed this too. Not a bad shout that I'm thinking the same! Southern end of that line has intensified a bit too over the last half hour.

Bit of a convective mess here now really, the west Sussex storm shield is in effect but not calling a bust just yet. New activity seems to be developing behind the rain shield. We'll see!
-
Just seen a monstrous cg followed by a crawler off the coast of Brighton from the top of the south downs!

Ashdown forest is a good shout for sure, possibly Newlands corner just south of Guildford too as visuals there will be good too. Will be going to devil's dyke just north of Hove first to see how it pans out as visuals there are good for miles.
