  1. Met going for heavy snow until 6pm and then light snow upto 9pm. Not sure the radar is indicating this. Are we expecting it to intensify?
  2. Is this marginal? The system has stalled slightly, looking at the radar is it right to think the stuff north still needs to drift its way south. Crazy day, love a good surprise snowfall. I know times are hard but enjoy this if you can.
  3. What’s your prediction for our neck of the woods (South Yorkshire) total wise? Already at 3CMs.
  4. @Kasim Awan Does Sheffield have to worry about wet bulb temps and water content? Or is our central placing and average sea level enough to negate this?
  5. Snowing fairly moderately sheffield north and settling of surfaces well ahead on schedule, It’s actually quite unbelievable how dry the snow is. Can’t wait to take pictures. The KASI snow model strikes again!
  6. Got to say, it was only fair other parts of our region got snowfall (11/12 hours in some parts!). Sheffield and South Yorkshire has already had two decent snowfalls so far. Let’s hope this winter has Plenty more opportunities for us all to enjoy some snow!!
  7. Tantalisingly close but looks set to miss Sheffield on current track, need more intensity to develop on southern edge. What’s pushing this front northwards?
  8. Is this another feature spinning up and heading North? More qualified on here may be able to confirm.
  9. As other members from in and around Sheffield have mentioned, apparently its been snowing heavily since 6am. Must be a new type of invisible snow . Not kidding I’m sure it’s just moved further north west
  10. Honestly would want that band to start moving south anytime soon, temps too high. If it wants to make its move south it can wait until later. Can’t imagine I would get much snow out it at this moment in time 2c dewpoint 0.9. In regards to forecast, Met, BBC and a handful of models got the track of this completely wrong. It could well move south later today because it obviously has a mind of its own. Pleased for those of us in Yorkshire that are seeing snow though. Might not be South Yorkshire’s day.
  11. Further I’m sure it wasn’t predicted to be that far west, in a half an hours time it will be loitering about in the Irish Sea. I’ll keep the faith though like @Harsh Climate
  12. This is the reason I was so confident we would have snow. The last two events that have given 1-3cm were never forecast, they finally change their tune predicting quote “several centimetres even down to low levels” and outside looks like aqua land.
  13. BBC and Met Office still showing heavy snow icon. Currently light rain. Couldn't write it, the north west has now on the whole done well off a front from the north, west and east. What do some people have to do in here to catch a break?
  14. WOW.....moderate drizzle. Expected to wake up this morning to snow piling up....well disappointing. Seems to have moved quite far west don’t remember forecasts doing this. Ironic that when forecasts say rain it’s snows and when predicting snow it rains. I hope their is more to this event than this. Please snow gods.
  15. Yeah temperatures starting to drop off quickly around Sheffield, now only 0.1c dewpoint -2 hopefully gets rid of any marginal problem. South of 120 ASL for me also helps.
  16. Temp 0.5c. Dew point -1.6. Showers pepping up slightly intensity wise. Fingers crossed. For a dusting befor the main event.
  17. Temp in my locale (Sheffield north) 1.4c DP -0.8 and falling steadily. Fairly clear skies helping. Fingers crossed the front doesn’t break up too much. What are conditions like Leeds/Bradford way?
