Model Output Discussion - 23rd Jan - 12z onwards
Thinon replied to Paul's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Certainly a changeable spell of weather on the horizon, but I'm not convinced of any significant cold spell. A little bit hopeful particularly at this range. -

We can't even predict weather 1-2 days in advance let alone get excited about Feb! -

South East & East Anglia Regional Discussion 21st March 2013 18:00hrs>
Thinon replied to Snowangel-MK's topic in Regional
I very much agree. Apart from one particular day in January, we've either been just too far north, too far south, too far east, or too far west. We've had the full shebang and it's looking like a slippery slope again!- 938 replies

South East & East Anglia Regional Discussion 21st March 2013 18:00hrs>
Thinon replied to Snowangel-MK's topic in Regional
I hope things do work out well for us, but it's difficult to be optimistic about something so marginal. Even when things look nailed-on we still end up with egg on our faces, let alone in an uphill battle like this.- 938 replies

13 consecutive hours of heavy snowfall for Kent tonight/tomorrow? Surely not, MetO.

Not worth sitting up hoping for a bit of snow which won't even be there in the morning. Enjoy!

South East and East Anglia Regional Discussion 8th February 2013>
Thinon replied to Snowangel-MK's topic in Regional
Not necessarily, but It would have to be very heavy snow. However the marginal temps would melt it by the morning anyway -
South East and East Anglia Regional Discussion 8th February 2013>
Thinon replied to Snowangel-MK's topic in Regional
Nice to see the upgrades this morning, however with daytime temps at 3 to 4C and nighttime temps not even getting below freezing, it's difficult to get excited about such a marginal and almost certainly short-lived event -

Even if we do squeeze an hour of snow out of it (highly unlikely), it would only add about 0.5cm.. Not worth tracking that in my opinion
-
You're not serious are you? This snow's getting to some people's heads!
-
It's been an impressive day, but purely from experience in these kind of set ups I thoroughly expect a significant thaw throughout tomorrow.
-
Snow sliding off car windscreens, and then not re-settling on them. Never a good sign
-
I think the fact that the MetO have refrained from upgrading their warnings to Amber speaks volumes about the snizzly and probably less-disruptive nature of this snowfall
-
I think the radar (esp RainToday) is rather misleading in terms of intensity / snow depths.. Talk of 30cms+ is well wide of the mark.

London and South East Regional Discussion - Part 565
Thinon replied to Paul Sherman's topic in Regional
I can see this event being similar to Friday.. Grainy snow which gives a measurable dusting to most of us, but not enough to prevent it melting by tomorrow lunchtime. -
