It ran off towards Manchester. Don't worry though here too, we just saw a mix of rain, sleet and snow. Mostly sleet. get some photos if you can!!

Seems to be sticking to the west Lancashire coast.. the cloud is broken here now!

Am I the only person who sees the flaws in this hairdryer plan?

temperature rising now the band has cleared.. which suggests that for the coast, the entire wintry element was down to evaporative cooling only.

Thanks, it's still snowing a little here, but has that sharp sleety feel to it now, whats more is the wind is changing direction too so temperatures may start to rise soon.

Anyone in Wirral around? Looked at a few PWS stations and the temperatures in some places are even more favourable than here, and dewpoints lower. Can someone in Wirral go out and see if it is settling by them?

turned lighter to rain now! Humidity is 100% again.. dewpoint above 0C and it makes a little more sense than before.

It's snow but sleety in nature, and occassionally had rain mixed in.. it's snowing on Bebington and Bromborough too, along with Neston, and Chester.

I think it will start settling soon, it's light but the air temperature is getting a little too low for the ground not to start freezing. Currently 1.2C

Temperature is plummeting and its turning to rain!

fine flakes here now but heavier, I think soon it will start to settle. Temperature dropping fast, but humidity also rising fast, currently 1.6C

dewpoint rising now, but temperature falling, still sleety.

its snowing but its quite sleety in nature, that said, the air temperature is 2.2C now

2.3C here too, with heavier snow now, this will definitely start settling soon I think.

Good call.. it's still sleety but I wouldn't have thought it with the dewpoints. What is your dewpoint currently?

Turning sleety again, but temperature dropping. In this situation when the ground gets wet, that's when it'll change to rain. It's really struggling to decide what to do.

Bigger flakes now, still dewpoint is 1.5C though, so this is quite unusual. Now moderate in intensity, I think it will settle today.

snow has come back here.. the dewpoint is dropping too, which will make things less marginal. Heavier precipitation will bring the temperature down too. On second thoughts perhaps it will be a snowy afternoon here, it might settle if it gets heavy enough. At the moment it's mixing with rain though.

It's complete turn to rain now, however the dewpoint is dropping, while at the same time the temperature is rising. I think it'll vary from rain to sleet and snow at times this afternoon though.

Around here it rarely snows with a dewpoint above 0C, you can tell it's marginal though.
