  1. The wind has suddenly dropped out interestingly.
  2. Oh my it sounds crazy out there and it's not even the main event yet I don't think
  3. Im not advocating doing silly life endangering stuff, but if you want an open (tree and debris free) place to experience the wind, either Thurstaston Hill on the Wirral coast, or Oldfield Road in Heswall and Caldy Hill in Wirral may well be subjected to some of the most violent gusts.
  4. Oh wonderful! 80mph gust on the coast. I know where I'm going tommorrow
  5. Given how cold the air was the past week there was no snow and no air frost. If -10C uppers cannot deliver an air frost over the course of almost a week's cold spell then the future may be rather bleak for cold!
  6. For those who can't see snow.. here's a live webcam of the Netherlands where they are getting pasted https://webcam.nl/bouw/leiden/
  7. Nothing.. I can only think either anaprop or they have evaporated before hitting the ground
  8. I haven't seen any either but it's one of those setups where a flurry of snow is definitely a possibility
  9. No snow here Cloudy but dry. It was sunny for a time today but has clouded over In the sun today it didn't feel that cold
  10. Cloudy but dry at the moment and cold in the breeze
  11. In the name of honesty I have to admit I misread the data before. I was reading an old record not today's It's actually been between +0.6 and +0.9 all day.. not quite below freezing. I thought something was amiss when I stood in squelchy mud and noticed that the water wasn't iced up
  12. It's bitterly cold today with a current temperature of -0.1C but the windchill is like -4C. It's the coldest I've felt it in years. Highly unusual setup for these parts. However it won't qualify as an ice day even if it stays below 0C from now until tonight as it's been above 0C since 06.00 It's very rare to achieve an ice day here
  13. It was 7C today after a minimum of 0.5C Anyone would think Spring was on the way
  14. Extremely thick fog this morning. Not of the freezing variety though as it is 1.0C
  15. In typical Wirral fashion there was rain earlier on in the day. In further typical Wirral fashion it's cloudy and 2 degrees
  16. Freezing for doesn't always slow the temperatures down. I've been noting the Netherlands temperatures recently and noted that temperatures can fall very fast in freezing fog
  17. No frost this morning but still the southeast is still locked in a 2 week freeze. Actually to them it must feel like 2010 a bit. Feels like every year here.
  18. Subtropical drizzly chaos. Meanwhile down southeast it was -6C this morning. A 12-14 degree difference for some
  19. Poor temperature modelling is something that afflicts the Netherlands too. Quite often it will forecast -2 or -3 and it turns out nearer -7C .. however oddly it forecasts Germany's temperatures often spot on.
  20. Problem with an SSW event is that the cold it produces can affect any number of places geographically (even in a relatively small area such as Europe) and therefore it is not always destined to affect the UK in terms of cold. Of course it increases the risk but doesn't define what will happen. I suppose though when snow, frost and ice is hard to come by, it gives some hope.
  21. Hmm the rain has cleared here already. It was forecast to hang around all day. Not that I'm complaining of course.. dry is better to commute in. Might be milder today as a result.
  22. I told you.. the Tropomatic 500 is extremely efficient.
  23. Rain showers this morning .. temperature 5.7C
