As above, absolutely glorious today. I nipped down to Edinburgh first thing to collect a motorbike for my dad and enjoyed riding it back up in the sunshine. Not sure on the accuracy but the bike trip computer was showing 27 degrees as we came around the Aberdeen bypass before easing off to 25 by the time we got home.

Another very usable day with plenty of sunshine early on before clouding over a bit.
Pretty heavy shower shower overhead now - water spilling over out over the gutters and a stream now running down the track. Almost flat calm too so might be here for a while!!

Apart from a short lived but hefty shower at lunchtime today it's been a pretty usable weekend here. Seemingly heavy showers all around but no sign at all of the forecast thunderstorms.
Bit breezy but sheltered enough here in the woods and some sun.

Been very wet here too, probably not massive totals but just seemingly a never ending stream of heavy showers for days now.
Need a dry day to pour some concrete - doesn't look promising anytime soon!

Missed this - welcome!
That's a good spot you have there, and like you say it is a great area to live in. Easy access to loads of interesting places with plenty to do. Along with the Lecht and Glenshee there's also quite a big XC skiing scene locally if you're into that - groomed trails at Clashindarroch, with Gartly Moor and the tracks around Bennachie often pretty good too.
Despite the occasional references to Aberdeenshire Permagloom I think we do pretty well too for weather by Scottish standards. All the benefits of the Cairngorms rain shadow but far enough inland to escape the haar of Eastern coasts. Usually catch plenty of snow too!

Absolutely glorious unbroken sunshine so far today, moderate breeze keeping the heat bearable. No flies or clegs so far, normally this sort of humid heat brings them out in force.
Hopefully get something interesting later!

We've got friends staying, currently sitting out on the back porch with a few drinks.
Nothing unusual there but it's just after 1am and we're perfectly comfortable in shorts and t shirts watching occasional flashes from very distant lightning. Absolutely glorious day from start to finish.
Hopefully get some decent thunder showers tomorrow.

About ten minutes after I posted the above, the cloud burnt away to leave yet another warm day with so far unbroken hot sunshine.

First morning in what seems like months that I've needed a jumper to sit outside with my mid morning cup of tea. Quite cool feeling despite the met office forecast mentioning a warm day - guessing it might warm up later.

Mostly dry here at home by the looks of it but I was over at my parents earlier to the NE of Inverurie and we had several decent rumbles followed by an absolutely biblical shower of rain and hail.
I missed getting the worst of it on camera but got this while it was easing - gutters and drains completely overwhelmed with 2ft deep puddles on the road when I left.

Suspect we might be a bit far North for the worst of it but just spent the last hour putting old sheets of corrugated tin over my firewood stacks. It's lovely and dry considering a lot of it was only split in March!

An unsurprisingly similar story here - scorching hot unbroken sunshine, very little wind and not a cloud to be seen.
This weather makes me appreciate living in an old stone cottage with thick uninsulated walls. For most of the year it's freezing but it's a very pleasant 18 degrees indoors today. The cool overnight temperatures definitely helping.

Im looking at an Audi A6 estate quattro on cross climates.. will this be any good in winter conditions?
Yep, should pretty good as long as the tyres aren't some ridiculous low profile size.
We have an old Honda Accord Tourer on cross climates and it's amazingly capable. It's obviously only 2WD but will go anywhere the ground clearance allows - great tyres.
As an aside the main road through the village is usually pretty well ploughed but the more open stretches nearer the fork and along towards Insch are pretty susceptible to drifting if the wind gets up.
Stiflingly warm in the sun here earlier, surrounded by forest meant little or no breeze. Very pleasant for sitting out in now though!

Humid with hazy sunshine - not sure of the temperature but my train from Insch to Aberdeen is apparently delayed due to extreme weather!
Not sure whether that's extreme heat or if there were thunderstorms further west. Whatever it is the AC isn't doing a very good job - it's sweltering in here.

I can always take a walk up and check it for you if you like?
Thanks for offering but home in a couple of days so should be fine.
Might be better not knowing if it's ruined anyway when there's nothing I can do about it!

Still abroad but hearing reports of torrential rain and even mudslides around Aberdeenshire which is slightly concerning given most of my garden is newly sown grass!
Fingers crossed it's been pretty localised and i'm not returning to a huge mess!

Good news we finally got a firewood delivery.. not the usual hardwood, but kiln dried Larch is the next best thing and around half the price of hardwood so a win win..
Glad to hear it, I would usually have nipped down with some rather than see you stuck but away until next weekend.
Currently in a sweltering Marrakesh with a high forecast today of 39 degrees - very low humidity thankfully so actually quite tolerable if you keep out of the sun.

What an absolutely incredible week of weather - unbroken warm sunshine and little wind by day, calm mist and frost by night.
I made full use of it preparing the new lawn and hired a large walk behind mechanical rake. While I could imagine it being very effective on decent light loam, on our soil it was pretty slow work. Absolutely no idea how many passes i did but I just went over and over it in every direction until it stopped getting better. My phone reckons i've done 150k steps since last Saturday!
I then set to work with my trusty landscape rake and wheelbarrow and started final grading, levelling and collecting the stones. 3 days of 12 hour shifts on the rake later and - sunburnt with blisters on my hands and aching arms and shoulders - it's finally all prepared for seeding. Definitely enjoyed my beer tonight!
Just need to wait for the ground to warm up and i'll get some seed down.- 11

Lovely yesterday here too, with today shaping up to be pretty decent as well after a cloudy start. Calm, mild with the sun currently burning through the cloud.
Got a bit sunburnt yesterday, managed to get the groundworks finished earlier this week so I spent the whole day raking and picking stones ready for grass seed. Could barely get out of bed this morning!

Quite a decent day here - cool breeze at times but dry all day and plenty of sunshine.
Some hefty looking showers over the western horizon but they thankfully stayed well away.

Rain back into the north east around 9pm sleety stuff in the mix 4c roll on the weekend and the drier spell
Just looked up to the Velux window above me having read your post - covered in a good layer of wet snow. Definitely didn't expect that.
Today wasn't nearly as bad as expected after some heavy overnight rain. Cold and windy but dry with some decent sunny spells. Monday and Tuesday were pretty good and the forecast looks promising so can't really complain too much!

Cracking day today - quite breezy at times but mostly just plenty of warm sunshine. No sign of showers at all despite the met forecast.
Tomorrow looking similar - fingers crossed!

We've had some heavyish spells of rain over the last hour or so but despite the met office automated forecast showing the peak the wind speeds due around now, it's only moderately windy out there.
Certainly nothing noteworthy yet and was much windier over the weekend (with no warning issued).
