3c this evening after cold bright day and early frost. Wind has been zero for around three hours now an eerie silence before the arrival of Otto later.

Same here - sitting outside with a cup of tea at the moment and it's absolutely flat calm. You'd have absolutely no idea that's it's forecast to be wild in a few hours.

I would find that more than pleasant.. might need to buy more heating oil though 🤔

Hopefully it can hold off for another 10 days or so... The ground finally seems dry enough and I have a slew digger and dumper getting dropped off on Thursday.

Probably be knee deep in snow by next weekend knowing my luck!

You don't have to buy it... it's online. As for 'very left interfering leaning', what on earth...? Show me a newspaper that's not got an axe to grind.

    ...

That's why it annoys me that sometimes they get their knickers in a twist about issues but don't look at the bigger picture....

I used to occasionally pick up a copy offshore, when someone else paid for it, but in recent years it's become almost an urban-centric left wing version of the daily mail. It seems to provide less and less actual news  with the "stories" and articles they do print cherry picked to suit an often quite bizarre editorial agenda. Much like Channel 4 news actually!

    Anyway, probably not the place!

Another glorious day, with very little wind, quite a bit of sunshine and surprisingly warm feeling at times. Sat out in the garden at lunchtime in short sleeves!

  4. Half decent day today with a bit of shelter from the cold wind. Stayed dry with plenty of sunshine so not a bad day for working outside.

Got lots to do outside and still got a digger on standby to do some work so could really do with a lengthy dry spell to give the ground a chance to dry out a bit. Probably be May!

Well as the last few days of our Perth adventure come around and as we look forward to hopefully better things.. the weather seems very pish indeed.. looks like im going to get wet at some point during the house move over the next 7 days. And then once its done and dusted i shall be looking for the mother of all cold spells before the end of winter or maybe a cold snaw filled spring..

Good luck with the move! Great place to live with easy access to the hill and good walking in almost every direction.

We're just up the hill so if you need a hand with anything with anything feel free to give me a shout.

  6. As others have said, a pretty decent day.

A few hours spent splitting firewood first thing in calm, frosty conditions then up to the Lecht for a half day.

Plenty of snow despite the warm weather last week, bit firm in places but great where the sun had been on it. Very little wind, no queues all afternoon and some lovely sunshine.

@Snowandrocks road conditions this morning?? Heading up for a visit to the house later..

Very cold here over night and the ground is frozen hard like permafrost... not much ice about as we've had zero precipitation in over 7 days..

Hmm, the main road through the village from the A96 is fine but everywhere else is still covered in thick lethal ice.

Should be fine just be really careful when you get out of the car.

Oyne is pretty close to Alford though right?😉😉

Haha, am I getting a new neighbour?

No mention of any second Polar Low related weather on the forecasts, so will be interesting to see what happens.

The lying snow is now like concrete - walking about doesn't even leave footprints. After a nice sunrise, it's now clouded over and snowing very lightly in quite a gusty wind.

  9. Assuming you mean 1ft+ lying at a time in one snowy spell rather than 1ft building up without it stopping snowing in between then just before Christmas is the most recent.

Most of our snow falls in showers rather than frontal events, so it's rare that you get more tham 3 or 4 inchrs in a si gle fall unless the showers run together.
