  1. Incredible rainstorm, found ourselves driving down the M23 to Brighton, never seen so much water on the roads. Lots of soggy participants and spectators on the veteran car run! The front just started to clear as we reached sea, made for some beautiful seascapes. Feels windy and quite warm out now.
  2. This is my worry, but I hope not - unless it turns to snow! Already missing the dry and sunny stuff
  3. Camped just south of Avebury on our way back from Wales, now watching the lightning out to the West, waiting for the rain hit!
  4. It's certainly going to be a scorcher today! We dropped to a comfortable low of 20.2 last night around 1.30. We are quite close to Croydon where they keep mentioning the minimum of 25c, but it is full of concrete! With ice blocks in front of the fan, I slept quite well considering. There was a bit of a breeze this morning to move the warm air around the house before I spotted the 8am temp was around 29c. It's now showing 37.1 - dropped from high of 37.4 at 11:45 - there may be high cloud, I can't see as the curtains are now closed.
  5. Last night was cool again, very pleasant for sleeping. Did a bit of midday gardening - proper Summer, no cold wind today but clouds have built a bit now. Just preparing for a week of the hot stuff, curtains closed and twice daily garden watering (the important stuff anyway - lawn is brown already!)
  6. Although I can't really complain, as we have had some good weather in my bit of the south east, there has been a constant, nagging and often cool wind, and without the sun warming the conservatory and back garden, my living room (home office) doors remain shut as the wind blows in making me cold. It hasn't even reached 18c today yet due to the cloud cover - fairly poor mid summer, midday temp. I'm sure it will jump if the sun appears.
  7. 26.5c at 12.30 today, now 14.2c with a chilly wind. Gradually rerobing throughout the day. Swapped the shorts and vest top for winter leggings and a hoodie. Swapped the salad for sausage pasta Winter is coming!
  8. Quick moan here about the wind. Really getting on my nerves now. We are in the middle of a 10 day van trip, we have done Southern Scotland are now in Northumberland. I can cope with the temps and showers, and had one day of rain which we drove East to escape, but there has been a constant gusty wind that we can't avoid, only had 1 day of relative calm on Sunday.
  9. After a bright start and a morning run to look at any local damage, we are now out driving in the rain. It's amazing how much water there is on the roads, I presume this is due to drains being blocked with debris.
  10. I didn't think my garden weather station could record gusts of much more that 23.5mph - just had a 34.4mph - excited! The Cumulus software gauge has updated to show a max of 40mph - I had no idea it did that - let's see if we can push that to 50 before the storm is over!
  11. Conditions not too bad in the Dolomites today, lots of sunshine and hard packed snow, but the wind is picking up. Might get a bit of snow over the next couple of days, however it'll probably get blown off to the piste as indeed will I if the cross wind pick up further
  12. We were supposed to go to Austria in December, but swapped to Tignes from 11th until 18th where we enjoyed perfect conditions but came home with covid for Christmas. However we feel lucky to have skied as so many people will have missed out, and all the testing was a worry, hard work and an extra expense, especially for families. It looks like conditions are not so good now without much new snow and very high temps.
  13. Beautiful crisp winter's day, managed to get out of work early and catch the sunset over the river. Looking forward to an exciting mix of weather over the weekend ?️?️
  14. So dull today and my mouse wrist is feeling cold in the t-shirt I optimistically put on this morning after the forecasts of 20c. What a waste of a southerly airflow
  15. Perfect early Autumn day out there after yesterday's stormy conditions - had a reason (and enough fuel) to drive over the Surrey Hills earlier and very pleasant it was too - stopped for a coffee at Box Hill, came back to work all smiles and chilled out:)
  16. Went to bed in Summer - woke up in Autumn. Took the car for an MOT this morning - luckily booked it for 10am so missed the rain but really noticed the amount of autumn leaves on the road after the deluge. I think we can probably say Summer is over even though it is rather pleasant but breezy out
  17. First day back home after a 10 day road trip around the south west and it truly felt like summer on all but 2 of those days (one of which started fine but ended in drizzly greyness the following day stared grey and drizzly, then cleared up as they day wore on). I complained, of course, but really we were spoilt with fabulous weather for our time away. The evening are cooler now, but there was even a bit of sunburn it felt that hot - doesn't happen that often in September. However, although today is pleasant back home, the garden is feeling distinctly Autumnal
  18. Surely not unless you are on the NE coast? Just booked my week off "at least it will be dry"
  19. This is glorious, please can someone tell me we'll get more of the same (or nearly the same) next week? MOD thread not updating as quickly as I'd like!
  20. I'm feeling very excited about the weather today - such a beautiful morning with lots of lovely sunshine to follow...
  21. I love it, been a long wait. Just a shame I can get near the sea until next week
