  1. A little high level cloud here and there but still hot and sunny enough out there to raise my spirits considerably. Yesterday started very misty but the afternoon was glorious and warm enough for a quick river swim! I really hope we can hold on to something like this for a the next 2-3 weeks so i can go on holiday somewhere hot (ish). It is an absolute joy - and I've bothered to hang the washing outside as it'll be dry in an hour or two
  2. There are rumours on the Model thread of a summer next week...
  3. Sure enough, next week looks like we could get some much longed for sunshine, maybe a bit late to book the week off work but hope it holds out for the following week
  4. Grey and cool, doors closed, socks on, hands on the keyboard looking a bit blue. Remember when we used to get Indian Summers?
  5. Well there you go - just about to take my September annual leave and the weather takes a turn for the worse - at least this gloom is dry and not to windy. Was planning to take the motorhome to the Lakes as I haven't been there before - looks like it'll be a windy washout second/third week of September
  6. Grim day today - grey cool and windy - feeling like Autumn - and not in a good way. The garden needs weeding but can't find the enthusiasm. When I realised that we were not going to get a 2018 summer, I lowered my expectations, I think I have been quite lucky with my weekends/week off. I have had usable outdoor weather, and have managed a sea swim on a sunny day with a cold easterly wind in north Norfolk and a quick harbour swim on the south coast, as well as a lot of paddleboarding and cycling. It could be worse, but it hasn't always been reliable shorts weather which is the measure summer for me.
  7. Garden temp now is only 17.9 °C -1.9 °C/hr - very sad, Summer is over. Should I get my winter slippers out again now I wonder?
  8. Perfect Summer's day out there today, a light breeze, warm sunshine, a few clouds. Such a shame it is coming to an end. It was quite likely though, as it coincides again with my week off work. I'm going up to Derby next weekend for an outdoor event followed by a week off touring somewhere - well that was the plan. I won't book anything after next Sunday as the weather will probably have to dictate what direction we travel. Crap timing and can't cancel this one Bet the following week will be a scorcher
  9. Managed a somewhat sluggish 8km just before 10am - came home quite red-faced, but happily cycled for miles in Kent at the weekend - bike helmet and plenty water kept me reasonably cool - loved being outside in the sun - going to miss it next week if the forecasts are right.
  10. Sadly I have no easy access to a beach but still love this weather, long to be nearer the sea, particularly days like these
  11. I always think it is the other way around, really hot spells here are nearly always humid, whereas the heat in the Med feels much drier. Got to say though, it was very clear yesterday, - we could see France from the Kent coast!
  12. My sister had just put up her tent somewhere near Lewes when the storm hit. Right overhead, tent flooded, burning smell everywhere!
  13. Just had a fantastic two days camping in our van in a field in Kent, cycling to the coast and enjoying quiet beaches as well as riding past Dymchurch which was crazy in comparison, Fantastic to see all the people out there rejoicing in the hot sunny weather and enjoying all that the British seaside has to offer. Yes, it was a bit hot at times but so nice not to have to plan for every eventuality. The other half didn't even bring a jumper!
  14. What a beautiful evening, such a change after yesterday, which felt more like Autumn. My OH has cut the overlong grass and I'm pruning the vigorous roses, and enjoying a glass of wine on the patio - just like Summer should be
  15. Risked a few days away in Dorset, bit wary of the forecast but we have had three days of rather usable weather. Cooking outside, paddleboarding and cycling, but I think tomorrow's forecast is payback
  16. Agree, I've just watched it too and now understand why the forecasts are so flaky this week. Wasn't too keen on the big patches of blue over the south - going to have a hard time dodging the rain this weekend!
  17. OK, so is it worth me heading to Dorset for a long weekend as planned, or am I really going to spend all of it inside a motorhome sheltering from the incessant rain in danger of going stir crazy? Surely there a small chance of it just being showers, and I might even get the chance of a bit of outdoor activity? So frustrating, desperate to get away somewhere now.
  18. All my young plants in pots are kept in trays to help with the watering - today they were drowning - had to do an emergency evacuation between the downpours
  19. So dark down here tonight. Feet are maybe a bit too toasty now though
  20. Somewhere in between. I haven't taken a week off to do gardening, but quite often do that in the rain! I just like not having to pack for every eventuality, I want to go walking and cycling without having to worry about inclement weather, and paddleboard too, so was hoping to get out on the sea, and if I can add a bit of swimming and eating breakfast and dinner outside it will be perfect. Don't need a heatwave, just what I would consider pleasant summer weather i.e. 23c to 25c with a light breeze, please.
  21. It is the moan thread . unsettled yes, temps under 20 unacceptable. 2018 was my dream summer, I guess if it is a 1 week blip and July delivers I'll be happy. Just happened to book this coming week off work to go camping.
