  1. we certainly don't - it wouldn't be the first time - waited up til 1.30am in december just to see the snow turn to rain as it got here, although I am much more hopeful this time. It'll be Ok, really, it will
  2. oh dear, temp on way up here and more worrying - the dewpoint has risen to a heady -1.5, wouldn't it be mad if it arrived as rain?
  3. Met Office Invent has it arriving after 9pm - then not stopping til same time tomorrow night, gonna be a loooong hour
  4. New series of Ice Road Truckers on tonight - might get some tips
  5. Yes not far away, you always do even better up that way - not long now huh?
  6. I can hardly contain my excitement, been watching the forums(and models)since before xmas waiting for this moment, and finally my (im)patience looks like being rewarded with bells on
  7. LBC are predicting snow for London tomorrow morning - where do they get that from?
  8. "Looking at the airmass the low pressure system develops a region of much more marginal air over our region, probably why those forecasts have rain/sleet in the lighter stuff...need that low to develop further east, very possible still!" Here we are sitting in these sub zero temps and the low with it's chance of snow has the audacity to bring in marginal air - whatever next, someone will be promising us a snowfest in 4 days time next!
  9. I was a bit disappointed, it's not often you get to do a forecast like that, i thought Dan should have looked a little more excited
  10. know the feeling, it's always just out of reach...but i'm still hooked and hopeful
  11. Well, it snowed in Croydon around midnight - how excited was I standing out side the pub huh? just enough of a covering on the car to write "I luv snow" in it. Still some flakes the wind...
  12. as some one said yesterday, it's like a drug. Can't seem to stop myself from obsessing, glad I am not alone
  13. OK, temp down half a degree in half an hour, dewpoint dropped from 0.2 to 0.1, rain is looking sleety, do I stay up? or hope for a nice surprise in the morning?
  14. Boo to the warm sector - it did all look too perfect, I got a -6 reading out in the car earlier, now where did that go?
  15. Oh no! I waited patiently all night for that front to come down, and now rain! How disappointing, how funny!
  16. Back garden temps ar 0.6C wth 88% humidity which seems to me like the dewpoint is just the right side of snow so we now have a light covering of which has pleased me immensly as I took a cab home from the pub. Am not sure this is going to continue as the radar looks a little lightweight but who knows, certainly nice to see the black slush at the edge of the road covered with white again for a while
  17. Well, just got back from the pub where I wouldn't usually go on a Sunday night but they have a great big window, snowball fights with the feral kids, snow angels in the park, this is just amazing. Snow still heavy & wish I didn't have to go to bed. 6-7" I'd say, the most fantastic walk home. magic.
  18. Just spent an hour or so driving around the nearest hilly places to find some evidence of snow, or catch a shower or two, but just nothing out there. Clear skies everywhere. Tantalising distant views of the snowy hills of Kent but just a bit too far to drive. Bit disappointed really as it's back to work in a basement tomorrow. Those nearby showers on the radar must be just missing me wherever i go
  19. At 4.40am there was a strange long but loud rumble, like a lorry or plane. This was followed 5 or so mins later by a blinding flash, just one, I was standing in the dark in my bathroom with the curtains open, but not looking out of the window and it was like someone had taken a flash photo right in front of my eyes. This was followed by one enormous crack of thunder, then heavy rain.
  20. Snowing here now, spot on with the 5min radar Temp 1.6, up from 0 at midnight - seems to be settling. Now its a question of whether to stay up and watch or try & get a couple of hours sleep
