Looks to be more NE'ly, wind direction tonight could help our Cumbrian friends?
Someone who's lived here longer than me can tell me if it's any use a bit further south (imby )?

I see our snow event has now been pushed back from Thursday to Sunday so will presumably show up on next Tuesday by Thursday....

Another day another light dusting/tiny covering.
Seemed to get caught between the streamers last night.

Right I'm following @jam2010's lead and going for some shuteye, hopefully a covering of some sort when I wake up like this morning rather than this dusting rubbish.
For some reason my alarm is still set to window check before sunrise tomorrow even after today's disappointment. What's wrong with me?

Unbelievable jeff......10 mins of snow followed by 5 mins of rain, you just couldnt make it up
How the hell have you managed to get rain out of this?

Something of note actually falling from the sky. Was convinced I was in the gap.
Tiny flakes but very heavy and starting to settle.

Definitely the latter Kevin! I think this has been an interesting spell, we had a light covering and at least we’ve seen plenty of snow falling. I’m looking forward to the properly cold overnight temps too.
Meh, ever so slightly lower temperatures rather than the freezing ones we'd get of we'd actually been blessed with any meaningful snow cover from this rubbish.

It feels more like snow now and the clouds have more of a proper convective snow cloud look to them than they have done all day.
I'm not sure which is worse that or 'smells like snow'. What next tastes like snow in the air?

To anyone not getting the showers. Don't worry. All you're missing out on is more sodding graupel.

One of the biggest letdown snow events of the season, the first week in February is simply too late for a cold spell, far too much sunshine to melt the snow cover. when we do get some.
Absolutely dismal, would take 8C mild nonsense with hammering rain over this crap.

Skipton band seems to have decided it prefers the Blackpool Promenade to Preston's Marina

Where are you seeing this?
Just to the East of Skipton.
Got my own eye on it as back edge is widening.

It could snow like this for weeks and not accumulate.
Need much heavier snow.
Issues is evening with heavier flakes they're being blown to smithereens all other the place, you'd need something resembling a blizzard for this to settle.

When the weather said sunshine and snow showers I was assume they meant separately not at the same time as each other.

Something like this from 2018:
People's expectations are too high, those sort of events are once a decade if not rarer events.
Checks calendar 2 years 11 months - nope not a decade
People forgetting there was a million relatively lame easterlies like this one between 2010 and 2016 - and presumably beyond (I moved in 2016)

I think some people need to chill, the fact this moderate intensity precip can get across the himalayas of Northern England and be snizzle this side surely means that should any seriously heavy showers form in York they should be moderate intensity when they get here.

Respecting Mr Hilton's wish not post image but if you class that as a letdown, your spoiled as snow.
