Heavy snow just easing and turning more icy/sleepy we have 3cm of snow so far but imagine melt will be quite rapid if the precip turns sleety.
Been nice to see it falling though!

MattStoke this is where we all get a complete surprise snowfall as the cold air becomes further south hahs

Well a rapid light dusting here literally took minutes for the snow to settle its snowing that heavily.
Not expected looking at the radar.
Good to finally see the Starlink dish actually does heat up and melts any snow on it though.

Polar Low For me it's not the warning but the inept lack of capability to forecast. Meteo Group with the BBC had the forecast spot on.
Anyway let's not turn this into a bitter debate let's keep it a bit of fun!

andy_leics22 same I already had today booked off before the hint of snow so a chilled day at least... definitely not because of the weather lol
MattStoke yup I see your frustration. Weaver hills behind us which are elevated not even a hint of snow.
We were in the Amber Area but nope nothing. I refrained from telling anyone it was going to snow this time. It seems to keep being the case nowadays a full day of snow turns to rain hours before.
-
Aidloz wouldn't hope. Met Office still says heavy snow here since 6am. Nope heavy rain.
-
Well we have... wait for it... rain.
No surprise really. What a let down of an event.
Roll on summer now I say!!

Well its cold out here but as with others our forecast is slowly reducing the hours of heavy snow which was earlier predicted all day for us tomorrow.
The disappointment is that it now seems we can't even look at model output with hope when it can literally change 9 hours before a snow event. It just goes to show how unpredictable weather is.
Starting to think the old days of seeing a snow event a few days out and excitedly telling friends has come to an end as 9 times out of 10 it becomes a flat scenario... even for the METO.
I think after this one I will.be ready for a blazing summer.

Met office has only improved the forecast.in the last hour turning the.evening rain to sleet tomorrow.
Otherwise wall to wall heavy snow for most of the day. Will see if it actually happens of course.

Midlander It actually has similarities between Boxing Day 2014 in terms of the will it or wont it, we started with heavy rain that day and everyone doubting any snow and then it switched and we ended up snowed in!

sheikhy Can you share the output?

Agree Matt! The forecast does not match the warning area reduction this is typical of our little island, chopping and changing we never can rely on a forecast...
Forecast heavy snow all day Thursday here. Reality, heavy rain lol
-
andy_leics22 I suppose it will be a watch and wait scenario. METO are getting slightly different outcomes to the GFS and we all know how inaccurate the GFS precip model can be.
I do agree though that despite holding onto the possibility of something, its more likely not going to deliver this time around (Again). But having said that our patch does tend to get surprises. One thing I cant be doing with is snow to rain events. You get a lovely snowfall then bam, rain... slush and just misery haha

Back to heavy snow here in Alton. Big chunky flakes again adding to the accumulation. At least it wasn't a complete nothingness for us.
