  1. Agree Matt! The forecast does not match the warning area reduction this is typical of our little island, chopping and changing we never can rely on a forecast... Forecast heavy snow all day Thursday here. Reality, heavy rain lol
  2. andy_leics22 I suppose it will be a watch and wait scenario. METO are getting slightly different outcomes to the GFS and we all know how inaccurate the GFS precip model can be. I do agree though that despite holding onto the possibility of something, its more likely not going to deliver this time around (Again). But having said that our patch does tend to get surprises. One thing I cant be doing with is snow to rain events. You get a lovely snowfall then bam, rain... slush and just misery haha
  3. MattStoke Same forecast on the apps for my location too... holding out hope but I just dont know yet!
  4. I don't share the enthusiasm for the short term. Talks of snow dumps are over exaggerated as the model runs show a snow to rain event which is actually likely to be just a rain event. After this week... fluidity remains.
  5. The chase is on at only 7 days away. Could this be the moment or will it be a complete draw back closer too. Time will tell. Models certsinly drumming up the excitement today
  6. Same as many others really no need for the extensive amber warning especially for my area. It was a nothing event for us. Luckily I guess... but even nationwide I dont think it was that eventful. I say bring on summer at least we may feel a heatwave haha
  7. Same here over in Alton, Staffs Moorlands. No different to any other breezy day. Understand locations vary however but here we have escaped anything remotely noticeable.
  8. Same here in the North Midlands. Best to be thankful as winds can be damaging. But nothing more than a gusty eve. Over damatised as per.
  9. Alton Staffordshire Moorlands - typical gusty weather here as of yet ao nothing too out of ordinary. However if this storms winds are going to peak over the storms weve had in thenlast 5 years, in our remote spot with overhead power cables weve never not had a power outage. When are the peak winds forecast for my patch?
  10. Gusty here but agreed nothing too putnof the ordinary for our position atip of the Churnet Valley and edge of the peaks. I dont hope for the worst of it of course as the previous storms have left us without power and have been relatively mild. What time in north mids/staffordshire moorlands are we expecting the worse?
  11. Random burst of snow here in Alton Staffs. Now have a light covering on top of last nights and what has remained frozen from the other night. Nothing to write home about but nice to see none the less. At least somethng has fell during this cold spell.
  12. Another dusting of snow over night fir our patch making for a cold and icy school run! Weather warning in place over night tonight and into tomorrow. Still nothing in the forecast however.
  13. Nope all seem to have vanished but surprises can pop up. The streamers havent exactly been streamers for us going west to east. Case of watching and waiting and opening the morning curtains to see what happens.
  14. Yes same for us here in Alton - we are in quite a good location really for snow as we are very rural being on the edge of the peak district and in the churnet valley too! My sister lives in Meir Heath and the elevation always favours their house in marginal situations. One thing I find is the difference in the snow row based on the varying elevations of the area is quite interesting.
  15. Looking at the radar the intensity is ever changing off the Irish Sea. Watching the disturbance over Liverpool that is expanding - Would be epic if this could shunt southwards a little!
  16. Still snowing here though looking at the radar its retreating away from my patch as the front remains a North Westerly affair. Would be loveky if it could shunt even further south! Wed be in a sweet spot then!
  17. Well I was cynical and wasnt holding out hope but it certainly shows surprises do happen. 1.5cm of snow on the ground and still snowing here in the Staffs Moors. If the precip band moves any further south we could be looking at a fun day with the ammount coming in off the Irish Sea. The fronts are weakening as they get further inland however. But I am happy this morning!
  18. As thought the bands of precipitation are dissipating before hitting our patch. We will be very lucky to see anything from this I think. Better off looking out the window in the AM. Here in the Staffs Moorlands its a minus temp night with little frost highlighting thenlack of moisture out there.
  19. I would say not good. The precipitationnwont make.it too far inland. Maybe a slight dusting for some limited lucky areas but nothing more than a hard frost could provide. Hope it goes the other way mind!
  20. Sadly they are weakening and dissipating before making any real movement inland. Not looking likely to get anything from these just yet.
  21. Only a matter of time before Thursdays is removed id say. Nice to enjoy some sunny frosty days I guess.
  22. Cant see justification in the models for the 3 day warning event they have put out? Especially for my patch. Are they perhaps seeing an increased risk of showery activity?
