  1. Interesting front moving in, a shame its going to be quickly washed away. So when do us Midlanders think the next event of interest will crop up?
  2. Alton - ST10 area What a weekend. The storm bought severe winds overnight on Friday leaving is without power for over 24 hours! Being in a rural spot relying solely on electric with 2 little ones… it wasnt so much fun. Topped off with disruption to the water supplies here meaning we had no water too til this afternoon. That said the initial snow even bought wothbit around 8cm of snow! Being snow fans it was a nice surprise! Then today! Weve had quite the day, snow started around 1pm and stopped around an hour ago but all in dumped a fresh covering of a further 7cm at measurment. Deepest snow on the grasses is around 15cm! Now the powers back the Christmas lights are looking especially seasonal and the kids have had fun in the snow! Wonder when the next event will be! Hope everyone who had the snow has enjoyed it!
  3. The earlier it gets here shows how fast moving it can become. I dont think this will deliver much (Hope in wrong) Can see it fizzling out, we are just outside Stoke and yet the forecast is for a light shower nothing more. Going be a track and watch excersize haha
  4. Alton Staffordshire - We were lucky to get 10+ cm of snow over night into this morning. The winds however were awful and alot of damage to our garden (non structural). We have also been without power for 12 hours so far. Living in a small village outside Alton in the Moorlands we have no heating, hot water or cooking options other than our trusty camping stove! Not a nice position to be in with a 2 and 4 year old, although they see it as an adventure at least!
  5. Morning guys. We are outside Alton in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Have to say whilst it is snowing heavy here the winds are causing some major issues in our village. Power has been off since 2am and out there is surely more worthy of an Amber weather warning! The wind is intense! Snow is drifting here. My sister in Meir Heath has had a lot of snow! More elevation there.
  6. Off to Lizard Point from the 4th June... any model watchers have any ideas what’s in store for the 7days we are there?
  7. Off to Lizard Point from the 4th June... any model watchers have any ideas what’s in store for the 7days we are there?
  8. We seem to be jumping with models to around the 10th June... I’m interested what the output is for the 4th June onwards... selfish gains as having a week in Cornwall and just hoping for dry bright weather even if it can’t be overly warm! Anyone advise?
  9. Let’s hope for some spring warmth now rather than colder outcomes. March can often deliver a wintry blast but I for one am hoping for the warmer side of things now!
  10. One of those frustrating snow days. On and off with a slight dusting. Looking at the radar it’s amusing the area with an amber weather warning appears to be missing the more intense showers. Bit of a nothing day I reckon as the showers start too become fewer and farther between. Still at least I’m on track for the summerhouse delivery at the weekend. Another snow event over hyped I reckon because it affected a small portion of the south east.
  11. Same to you! At least we’re not stuck in mild Atlantic dross!
  12. A cold night out there in Alton, Staffs. snow blowing around in the wind but managing to leave a slight dusting in spots! interesting to see what the next 24 hours delivers with talk of sliders and heavier showers. If the MetO app was reliable I would say we’re onto something pretty decent snow wise... but alas this is the MetO app we’re talking about!
  13. Heavy Snow here in Alton, Staffs. A light covering on the ground! Not going to last long looking at the radar but nice to see seems as we expected nothing!
  14. Prime position up there! my cousin in Buxton has snow too
  15. when a friend in West Yorkshire video calls! 20minutes of the heaviest snow I think I’ve ever seen on camera! They are completely dumped on! Lucky beggars! sleety mess here in Alton Staffs now... burst of heavy snow! Potential is there... suppose we will have to wait and see
  16. Update from Alton m, Staffs Moorlands, we have falling snow here but struggling to settle, one in Ellastone they have snow settling and up towards Leek too! Hoping showers keep coming in as the cold air comes by!
  17. Turned back to sleetyness here now in Alton but just goes to show how quickly the temps can drop it’s certainly feeling colder out there already! Didn’t record the temps but deffo a drop!
  18. Alton Staffs - Heavy rain has just turned and we now have quite a random heavy snow shower! Sure it will turn back to rain but very random!
  19. Being a Moorlanders easterlies usually driver here! Other than the other Sunday even we haven’t seen much lying snow here this winter overall whilst my sister in Meir Heath has had quite a bit!
  20. Interesting bit of weather watching coming up! See how it pans out over the next few days to firm up on details. I am confident the showers blowing in will deliver something more than nothing especially with the general temps! I am in a battle to get the new summer house constructed before hand!
  21. Well I don’t think this post was appreciated in the main thread it got deleted. Fair enough I suppose but I do think I have a point lol
  22. Hahaha oh dear! This winter that’s how I’ve been with my sister over in Meir Heath! They had a tonne of snow at times when we’ve had a smattering lol mad the difference a few miles can make!
  23. can I join this gang lol Alton Staffs here... Although I am the one stupid enough to be having a summer house delivered on the 12th and the base this weekend! Was hoping get it all up in some spring like weather lmao not a chance by the looks of it. Alton usually does well snow wise from Easterly feeds!
  24. We really did haha tbh I want to get out and level some ground for my summerhouse so although it’s Heresy to say I could do with it moving away quickly today!
