  1. One the dew points go below zero it shouldn't be a problem settling. This should happen any time now. Image shows dew points for 9am.
  2. Temperature and dew point taking a dive here now. Snow event should be under way shortly. It's a few hours behind schedule. Remember the amber warning started at 4am today.
  3. I always find that things tend to get downgraded generally as they get closer. Also, I always hear about how hard it is to move cold air, but in this part of the world that rarely seems to be an issue. If anything we normally go from one extreme to the other fairly quickly down here. So I would not be at all surprised if it's winter this weekend and shorts and t-shirt weather next weekend.
  4. Still got to watch that milder air which is very close to the south and south east. Too close for comfort in my opinion.
  5. Big divergence between the GFS and ECM. We are either heading into spring with double digit temps or the freezer. Normally if there's a doubt, the mild wins, unfortunately.
  6. Wow the 0Z GFS goes into full spring mode. As the cold spell is replaced with double digit temps down here.
  7. After all the flips back and forth it feels like it will be a miracle if we pull this off. My fear is the SE will tap the warmer air somehow. Just enough to spoil the party down here, 1 or 2 degrees in it. Could still be a classic further north though.
  8. 6z doesn't look good. Even ignoring that. The mild air is still far to close for comfort in the SE. A small shift and we will tap into it. We usually find a path to warmer air down here.
  9. You won't be able to get out of your front doors up north if that happens! Rain feast for south east, but that's par for the course these days. We always find a way to warmer air down here, no matter what.
  10. To use a football analogy we are like a team who creates loads of chances but never scores. Yet again it looks like we may well snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
  11. Don't want to delay to long. Down south the sun starts to get some strength from mid Feb. That's not to say it can't get cold and snow of course, just that as soon as the sun comes out it's drip, drip, drip.
  12. Another day of cold rain here. If only those temps were down a few degrees. It would have been a winter wonderland.
  13. Hi all. Thanks for all the great analysis. It feels like things are just on the slide a bit for the south, with a short cold snap likely next weekend for a few days, rather than a deep cold spell. It's another day of horrible cold rain again down here, but I'm used to it now. Nearly always a few degrees too warm here. Thanks again. Robbie.
