    That makes sense. Here where I am, it’s often just sleet / rain as I’m so close to the coast. On a train back into Newcastle on Thursday lunch time from Glasgow, so will be interesting to see if there’s any by then.

    Part of me is expecting plenty, but that could be from reading too much of the over excitement on the model thread. Another part of me, feels we may be disappointed. Weather apps for my location aren’t showing much.

    Having experienced a red warning for Storm Arwen up on the north east coast, it really surprised me how many people didn’t take notice. Our red warning began at 3pm, our schools didn’t close early, finished their usual time of 3:30pm, neither did any of our local businesses. Luckily we didn’t suffer a great deal of damage personally, but the downed trees and roof tiles we saw the next day were shocking. It doesn’t look like we’ll see much from this coming storm, but I hope everyone stays safe.

    Some awful damage around this morning in Boldon area, lots of downed trees, and the gable end of this house.

    I’m 3 miles in land and I’ve never heard wind like this before, can’t imagine on the coast.

    Can I ask are you just going off met office for local predictions of wind We are in the red area and not sure exactly what to expect .

    Out on the school run at 3:30pm the wind was just starting to pick up, raining and freezing cold. Im about 3 miles inland from the north east coast and not looking forward to tonight.

    Appreciate this, I’m right on the north east coast near Sunderland, and not very good at reading the models as a newbie, so wasn’t sure how bad it may get here!

    We have the lightest tiniest flakes beginning to fall here. Thought the kids were winding me up until I looked closely.

    Quite unbelievable how much it’s increased in size over the last few hours on radar. Really hoping it travels over the whole region nice and slowly.

    I watched the one that hit Newcastle on the radar and thought it was headed this way. Gutted ha, hopefully get some of these ones!
