  1. afternoon all, mild but gloomy here, rain just started and will agree sky looks very sulky colour, no wind to speak of here, just had tree fellers arrive next door so when they do cutting of the ones in the front forecourt will be something to watch how sad to need that to break up boredom at the moment
  2. have scientific minded hubby who likes to try out different things, also for earlier poster we talked of pineapple flavoured tomatos not pineapples just had very squally heavy rain and gusty wind, out it dosn't feel mild. reply about black toms have eaten them very tasty but skins on small toms can be quite tough good luck on growing the seeds
  3. thanks for that, no just have scientific minded hubby who likes to try out different things, also for earlier poster we talked of pineapple flavoured tomatos not pineapples
  4. good morning to all the lovely friendly folk on here, bit of drizzle but also sun going on at the moment, gardening question answer is the toms and cues were grown from seed the toms looked like chinese lanterns when growing as they were encased in a papery white covering they are the size of marbles, the cues looked like lemons my husband had them in a pop up greenhouse but as we are gardening amateurs allowed them to get over tall [the plant] also grew tiny black peppers but they were too hot taste wise, hope this helpsnot sure if the toms or peppers were named aunt mollys we grew them here in suffolk.
  5. miserable and wet here in leiston bit of a breeze as well, for different growing ideas try pineapple tomatoes and cucumber melons they really do exist we grew them, and no i havnt been on the moonshine flavoured spirits [did have some whisky flavoured chocs other night though

  7. very cold, very windy, snow still on the ground and on some roofs, we had small snow flurry during the night!! is this the end of the cold? or maybe winter could rear its head again many a year seen daffodils or crocus amongst the snow
  8. guess what just looked out and we have little snow flakes blowing around bitterly cold, and crunchy road outside, also lying snow on roofs and ground
  9. woke up this morning surprised to see quite a covering of snow over snow melt from yesterday, very cold but beautiful sunshine for most of today. Main local roads very good but side roads still ice and slush so with tonights very low temps forecast there will be a lot of frozen side roads in the morning .

Fabulous pic in todays mail newspaper of snow in orford suffolk when we lived there did have good snow fall in january 2013 in fact got stuck in our friends farm on their track to village road, wont forget that in a hurry have a good afternoon everyone.
  13. afternoon all, snow still falling here but quite light and powdery, overnight quite a big fall again powder snow so the wind has whipped it into drifts, many areas around here have had problems on the roads some are still closed, even just heard on the radio my town leiston has blocked roads, everything very icy and bitter cold in the strong gusty wind, hubby managed to get to doc this morning decided safer to take the car than walk on frozen paths said car twitched a couple of times but he got home safe, [ hes an ex taxi driver so is used to bad road conditions] im not allowed out as had heart stent done and also rare neuro condition, years ago id have been out snowballing etc lucky my lovely neighbours wave as they pass our home and keep an eye on us. Down in portsmouth family excited this morning as it was snowing only lightly though they are quite envious of us here in suffolk, keep warm and safe everyone and for us snow lovers bring it on please
  14. quick update, had a lull in the snow late afternoon but just seen massive fall of powdery snow falling being whipped up by very strong wind, looks like its giving another good covering, our little town or should i say our road is very sparse for street lights but snow showing up very clearly in orange glow. luckily neighbours front security light on so can see snow covering their drive much thicker than earlier, wind seems to be swirling a lot.
  15. still snowing good covering of snow and we seem to have a mixture of dry powder snow and wet flakes, wind still very gusty and temp -1 before wind chill, grandaughter in portsmouth messaged just now to faint sign of snow there, hope she gets some as she was quite excited for an adult for her.
  16. good morning hit the jackpot here from 7-30am, blizzards and heavy snow, cars covered trees etc, looks gorgeous but viciously cold and gale force winds -9 with wind chill. Power ok at the moment but flasks filled and candles plus torches on hand for tonight, on amber warnings till lunch time tomorrow. Very luckt to have big picture window to watch it from, take care everyone.
  17. followed the site for ages but just joined, thought it about time i stopped being a lurker, looks like i will be in the thick of things as i seem to be positioned slap bang where the action is going to happen. Ive always been a weather freak love storms snow gales etc my family think its hilarious, [have great grand kids so im no spring chicken] possibly the oldest snow lover on the site. getting very gusty winds at the moment had rain but no snow yet, passing the time by beating up angry birds and informing family to get stocked up with essentials candles torches batteries food camping cooker in case of power cuts as you can tell have been here and worn the tee shirt many times. sorry if this is a long first post hope its in the right place as i will be able to send more info about my area as this weather progresses, cheers to everyone have lots of homemade moonshine liquers if heating goes down in power cut
