  1. Noteable that the 'mild breakdown' is, checks notes, pretty similar to this weekend's temps, albeit not dry.
  2. They started doing this a while back. And WalesOnline is part of Reach PLC, so they've got the memo too. At least it has some scientific basis rather than the crap that they used to put out. But, without context, it's arguably just as bad. They are now obsessed with the phrase "exact date" and described everything as a "wall" or "bomb" or "insertarmageddon here." But, no matter how apocalyptic, it appears under a billion articles about Harry and Meghan. Anyhow, back on topic, noticeably "warmer" last two days. The ice I extracted from the hollow on my patio furniture cover has melted. "Milder" weekend coming and then into the cold again. Will it snow. Well, cold is half the battle. Let's see.........
  3. Kind of..... That's Reach PLC's new method. So look for articles in, for example, the Express that will say "exact date 750 mile snow wall expected to devastate the UK and kill all known life" while running an article that viewers don't like Laura Tobin because her forecasts are scaremongering. So, yeah, good that they don't just go to Exacta now but still a long way away from doing it for anything other than sensationalism. And, I wrote that before I checked and, lo and behold:
  4. Looking forward to the cold and prospects. Did a long walk in the forecast sun on Saturday from Llanelli to Pembrey and back. Laughed at the "spot" forecast with the big sun symbol during the 3-4 really heavy showers!
  5. And gone again, barely a breeze. Unless we get back edge, not sure what precipitated the amber. WAY windier last week.
  6. Oddly, barely a breath here in Bridgend!
  7. The 'late' naming of this one is a bit of a concern. Suggests it is a bit worse than initially thought. Amber for my region.
  8. Amber for wind for S Wales? That also feels odd given last week's yellow and today's spot forecast.
  9. Today's S Wales wind warnings seems rather at odds with the actual forecast. And certainly a world away from Thursday.
  10. We escaped most of the rain in the far south, but, oh that wind. Quite a few seeming squall lines moved through during the night too, one was insane.
  11. Quite the difference on the netweather spot forecast (I know) for my location tomorrow as far as rain is concerned. Could be on southern edge though. Met has a quite different day
  12. Also, very light winds, and not an easterly direction as forecast. Very different all in all in the short term.
  13. Well, pleasant surprise, tracked south. Unusual to be so far out that there was no rain rather than torrential rain.
  14. This week has had some of the most memorable (short lived) weather I can recall. Driving to Bridgend Tesco on Monday evening was like a rain blizzard. Incredible squall. Similar yesterday. Today, quite nice. Tomorrow looks like it has some potential to be awful but, at least, the wind will mean that the rain driving into the house is from the other side........
  15. @Dxnielwasherei popped to Tesco in Bridgend earlier, possibly during that. The worst driving conditions I’ve ever experienced. An insane 1/2 hour of weather
  16. Whenever it's really windy my pessimistic brain thinks my roof will go. Despite being a fairly well built new build. My positive brain then goes "but it's rare, even in the worse cases, only a few rooves in an area actually go." Then you look at videos from Jersey etc and realise that we've really dodged a bullet here.
  17. I think our winds arrive in a bit as the storm exits? Breezy out right now rather than outright windy but seems to be increasing. Very wet, of course.
  18. Quite the weather so far Bridgend way. Currently having thunder which has a very different sound to the usual stuff.
  19. The word unprecedented really is losing all meaning with the state of "the weather" now. Truly awful scenes.
  20. Been very windy here in South Wales, squall line passed through about an hour ago and it was one of the worst I can remember. Calm-ish now. Sun out.
  21. Yeah, quite interesting. It's bitter in Bridgend and was -3 a bit earlier. Still very cold outside, so if those passing showers don't bring warmth, could be very dicey out first thing
