  1. You might need that firewood today Mike, it’s turned quite cool without the sun, I’ve even got my slippers on for the first time in months
  2. They’re amazing pictures. I think we’ve had quite a decline in barn owls in our area. Think I’ve maybe only had 2 sightings this year (apart from a young dead bird sadly). You’re very lucky to have such beautiful birds nearby.
  3. Well there was some compensation to a very early dog walk this morning (after only 5 hrs sleep)….it was a grand morning up on them there hills…and I managed to get back home just before the showers started can just see the double rainbow below
  4. Yes, I got the text about the power cut whilst I was in the cafe in Lincs, thought it might have to be take away for tea (shame), but power back on by time home so had to cook after all ??
  5. I missed it ️. Drove through the heavy rain heading to Lincolnshire, leaving it behind in Yorkshire. Lots of surface water on roads, but dry once over the bridge. Still very wet on return home & garden well battered down! No watering needed tonight. Our wettest day of the season so far I suspect. A nice clear evening now though.
  6. Watching Hollywood’s version of climate change - Day After Tomorrow ?. Very melodramatic but love it. Seen so many times
  7. Some sun to start the day but mostly an overcast day here. At 21c though it’s feeling quite sultry.
  8. It’s nice to have the heat again today on the Wolds. Plenty of sun with some cloud & a good breeze keeping the heat pleasant. Perfect day for cleaning & drying out your tent ??
  9. Read the forecast this morning & showed no precipitation all day, high temps & low risk of storms. Well for the last 1/2-1hr it’s been very sultry with some dark non-descript cloud cover. Checked the forecast again and suddenly it’s changed to 0.54mm precip & 42% storm risk. The whole world has changed around me whilst I was hoovering!! Oh, and we’ve just had 12 drops of rain. Think that was the storm
  10. We have a lot of cloud cover with the sun trying to break through, but temps are very warm, current reading 24c in the garden. From the forecasts earlier in the week I did not expect such a pleasant day today (thought we would have lost the heat by now). Just goes to show how things change day on day.
  11. Yes, you are quite west so probably more in the firing line, sorry about that. Get your waterproofs on & enjoy the show if it comes (& eat quickly)
  12. On the dog walk this morning, the car temp stated 21c & that’s on the exposed top. I’m struggling to find a cloud in the sky! Back in the more sheltered garden my temp gauge is reading just over 24c. And before anybody asks, I’ve got my proper instruments up now in their rightful place (they’re not particularly highly technical instruments, just the basics - thermo & barometer) but I have calibrated them as best I can. I think the temp gauge is accurate to within up to 2 degrees. And yes, they’re in the shade, 1.5m off ground, got good airflow etc etc. So let’s see what readings I can get going forward. Actually don’t want the storms to come this far anyway, Wales & midlands (& SE if they’re lucky) can keep them for now thank you very much.
  13. Yes, it’s been a hot one all day, very little cloud. It’s been tough out there in the garden. It had me beat by 3pm! As you say @Wold Topper it’s very pleasant for the evening now ⛱
  14. Sheet, you’re hard to compete with . To get back on topic, I think it’s cool enough now to close the doors for the evening. It’s been a very pleasant one. Not bad for 10.10pm.
  15. Don’t get touchy! I was agreeing with you for agreeing with me for agreeing on camping . Didn’t think you’d misunderstood, just pointing out my own stupidity! BTW, being totally facetious at this point ??
  16. But you know how quickly the forecasts can change so you can only be hopeful. Just make sure you’ve got your ‘top sheet’….is that a technical term? (I don’t do camping!).I just remember my first year at Glastonbury and someone who was in charge of our tent didn’t bring the ‘top sheet’ & it rained. It was very wet. I ended up sleeping in the car!
  17. What a brilliant day for mid summer - sunshine all day, with only a little light cloud covering which just made the high temps more comfortable. Still enjoying the warmth now - Happy Solstice everyone
  18. Wish I could take the doors out the sun too! Fortunately we have some cloud cover moving over ??
  19. Regardless of the official temperature, my hyperactive mercury is having a field day…& it’s starting to warp my French doors! Maybe I should be on the ‘moans’ page now
  20. It’s a glorious start to the day, 22C already & rising…. If I was at work today I think I’d feel a headache coming on
