Now I'm faced with a tough decision. I can either stay up and watch the storms roll in (and risk a bust) or head to bed and risk not seeing a thunderstorm. I think I'm going to stay up, I can't miss a storm! Being tired tis tomorrow's problem now.

That’s called ‘hacked’
I think it was trying to play an ad but for some reason it didnt actually pop up on my screen.
Still was pretty spooky!

Ok that "My Lightning Tracker" app is fully bugged... It's just started playing boss fight music for no reason while I try and figure out why there are so many false detections!

Now Havant has lit up and gone boom. Quite a random arrangement, but silently hoping I'm next in line...

Chichester has decided that it hasn't had enough attention today and it's decided to go boom out of nowhere. Interesting.

Woah! And Chichester gets lit up in a split second!

Am I being overly optimistic, or are the cells from Cherbourg to Lannion trying to organise into a line?
I sure hope so. That's what The Weather Channel say, and the Met seem to agree to an extent...

Based on the outlook from The Weather Channel, it looks like I'm still in the game. They really like to exaggerate thunderstorms but if things play out right it could spark something.
Might have to stay up later than usual and take the bullet! My fate of sleep or no sleep will be decided in the next few hours...

I’ve been more of an observer on here for a few years now. What amazes me is the lack of knowledge of storm chasers. Granted many want to learn, however, I’m 55 and have been studying weather since the age of 7. I started off with the Ladybook of weather followed by the Osborne weather book. Both excellent reads and it amazes me that so many cannot even read the sky. Computer models are fine but the real basics come from reading the sky, the clouds etc. Animals do and yet so many wannabe weather spotters think the latest PC run dog biscuits is the holy grail of information.
In essence start understanding the basics and one will know when a storm is approaching. The set up this morning was a joke. There was no way a storm was going to smash the south coast and yet so many got their hopes up over a computer model and yet nature said NO!
I started a few years ago. 16 now, and I don't mindlessly predict storms as I used to! I'm still a bit rusty and learning lots but I think it's a start. I remember when I hated thunderstorms, but after my brother told me some facts about lightning, it sparked my obsession with them.
Anyway, back to storm chasing... I don't think it's worth me staying up tonight, and school tomorrow means my brain will die if i don't sleep lol.
Good luck to everyone out tracking and chasing storms tonight!

My dog's got beginner's luck! She just summoned a lightning strike with one of the deepest booms I've heard in a while.

My dog Rosie has joined me in the 'stare out the window and hope something interesting happens' game.

Big flash and loud boom just now. Impressive!

Distant rumbles and light flashes over here. Not much but I'll take what I can get.

The temperature here has dropped a considerable amount, down from 24C to 23.1C

Storm at Bristol will make it's way over in my direction if it survives.
There were some good cloud formations today but no thunder heard here. Lightning over Southampton I saw on my tracker, but I was too late to the party.
