Gone very dark at the office near Harefield. Precipitation feels close. Accdg to wunderground it's 4c and dewpoint is around 0c. In home town of Reigate it's 4.2c but the dewpoint has risen slightly to 2c. Interesting hour or 2 ahead. -

Temperature steadily rising in Reigate at 110m, where it's now 2.5c after this evening's low of 1.1c at 8pm. Dewpoint heading up as well, now 1.9c. Edit: raining -
Oh I don't know about that, there are a number to choose from.

That pattern looks quite amplified but taking the D16 mean I would expect it to flatten out or, at best, manifest itself as a toppler. -

Isn't this good news? -
Ah, it must have been the use of well concealed (some might say non-existent) subtlety that threw me....

Huh? This is your post on the CET thread, from just 3 days ago: "Its not happening, Jan to be average to mild. HP never far away giving frosts but oscillating and mostly in wrong location bringing mild days between short periods of cold. 5c and 40mm BFTP" Bizarre.

I remember the predicted torpedo from a few winters back. I guess like many weather predictions it didn't quite pan out. Hopefully it's not still in orbit with an increasingly dodgy fuse. Maybe best next time to say something like 'chance of a change to something more wintry next week' -

I'd like to hope that even in this weird world we're all still ok to make our own decisions about when to put on the heating Very mild today here in the Surrey Hills, been out and about including a visit to Denbies vineyard and the farm shop. Great place for some last minute top up presents including local cheeses and really fab English sparkling wine. The MAD thread is a bizarre place for sure, like much of social/soshallow media, I would much rather go out in all and any weathers than sit around looking at charts. Can you imagine: 'what did you do in January 1987 Dad? Well, son/daughter, I sat in my bedroom and looked at the internet. But, Dad, did you go out and enjoy it? No, far too cold, I just speculated miserably about the possible breakdown so I could moan about it'. -

Very mild now at 6.9c. A mostly decent day but heavy rain arrived about 5:30 just after i got back from a competitive squash match vs my youngest son. Nearly 16 and he's becoming annoyingly good. History repeating itself, same thing happened with eldest who's now nearly 22 and started beating me around the same age. Thankfully my daughter doesn't play otherwise she'd be the same. Anyway, looks like a mild week ahead, some rain around. Called in at Denbies to buy some wine around lunchtime and it was pretty soggy out in the Surrey Hills but I've seen it s lot worse. On a domestic note hoping the roofers can finish on our house by Friday, at least we're now watertight again. -

Lots of build up knocking around for snow today. As it turned out there was largely nothing wintry in the SE. Here in Reigate it was cold and dry first thing but never felt like it was right for snow. The temperature and dewpoint started to rise slowly but inexorably from before 7am and even at our 110m altitude it was rain all the way, even this afternoon when it was chucking it down and you might have thought that evaporative cooling could have played a part. Anyway, in the grand scheme of things that actually matter I'm past caring if it snows or not, although I'll enjoy it if it happens. One thing for sure though, weather like we've had today is utter garbage. -

Heavy rain in Reigate in the Surrey Hills. Temperature and dewpoint still rising; 2.8c and 2c respectively. Foul out. Log burner going nicely. -

Light rain still in Reigate. I guess from the posts coming in that at the top of the Downs at c230m it might be sleety. Fun to see but actually pretty miserable to be out in. -

Temperature up a little to 2c, DP stuck at 1.4c. Light rain still at 110m asl. It's potentially one of those many nights where hope is trumped by reality. Bit like my teenage years (last spotted 1984!) -

It's dry in Reigate. Or, possibly, wry in Drygate. Cold though, 1.9c, DP steady at 1.4c. Light breeze stuck on a NE setting. Wondering if my early morning departure tomorrow up and over Reigate Hill (230m) will reveal anything interesting. I am of course talking about the weather. What goes on in that car park (allegedly) is nothing to do with me. -

Don't do sly digs. Grown up challenge, yep. Hope this thread doesn't become another toy throwing special. Until otherwise I'll use the thread I fancy thanks as I'm sure you will.
