  1. Looks like a slushy mess to me!! could be fun on Friday night if it freezes?
  2. It is marginal now, they are damned if they do, damned if they dont, the press will be on there back if they get it wrong, especially the press like the daily panic ( mail ) there is a 40/50 mile error as they said this morning, this is the line between rain and snow its that close
  3. BBC 24 saying Snow well South or Birmingham now, Wet snow for London, showing Rain here in Billericay no white here, still saying keep tuned as it can still change
  4. Thanks Egret for the summary i couldnt said it better, if anybody knows the film trading places it explains the Commodity market and how it works, i know it was back in the 80s and before electronic trading now then everybody traded in a place called a pit, where everybody screams and shouts at each other
  5. Just seen the news they are talking about low water levels and the farmers are saying we need water as all the crops need watering, Wheat prices are really high at the moment i think if it continues we should all go long wheat on the futures market
  6. When are we going to get a decent spell of wet weather here in the SE, looked on the charts looks like some drizzle mid week at that is it, must be one of the driest March, April on record. can anybody tell us why there are so many blocking highs, what has happened to the Gulf stream? Food prices will certainly go up if we continue with this dry theme. perhaps 1977 ( standpipes outside)
  7. Cant believe it i am looking forward to rain, seems like a bit of novety value at the moment, like looking forward to the first day of snow. The garden looks like mid Aug at the moment, grass is starting to go yellow and some of the trees i have noticed dont look to healthy (looks like global warming is happening)
  8. Looks like heav showers later, cant see any storm clouds gathering yet
  9. Sorry to be downbeat about all this lovely warm weather, does anybody know when it will rain here in the SE, last month according to the BBC it was one of the driest on record, i think this month is going the same way,we need rain to fill up the reservoirs, i think people could well be getting concerned when there will be articles on the news about how low the water level is
  10. Quite Agree, looking forward to storm watching now, looks like there is a blast of cold air not far away from our shores pretty close but this time of year will it come to anything if it got here??
  11. looking forward to the summer now, BBQs lots of Beer and wine, sitting in the garden ,looking back what a dissappointment Jan and Feb was considering what December was, i did read somewhere somebody did say that Jan Feb was going to be mild with a strong Atlantic push
  12. I thought the high pressure will be drifting around for the next few days then sinking south/sw in about a week or so then a south/se wind will be over us, is this right or am i wrong?? there might be a block of some sort but will be to far East for us, the high will be to close to us for the extreme cold
  13. looks like the High Pressure sinking south into the Med, cant really see potential for snow to return yet
  14. I Would have thought if you can see it, it would come down as snow, must me quite a temp gradient
  15. Sleet here, large amount of snow in the sky Silly question why is there snow in the sky, you can see it, why is most of it coming down as a sleety rain mix?
  16. Sorry Crazy Diamond, you said i had 20 yrs experience over you so i thought you were only 24-25, my appologies
  17. To mild out there, if only the lows would track more south and allow the Northerly in. Crazy Diamond you around 24-25?? probably cant remember any decent winters apart from this year?
  18. Yep, that is what i used to do i was working in Chancery Lane walked up the road to the Met Office at Lunch times, even when i worked at Liverpool Street i used to go there, trying to think of that year i think the temp didnt get above -5c, no cars on the road had to struggle to get to work on the trains, they still ran a service when there was a foot of snow on the ground, every day for three weeks it snowed we had a Easterly with heavy snow showers, blocking high to the North streatched all the way to the other side of the Atlantic,Lows broke through round the high to the North and it split the high, the air came all the way from Siberia, probably 1984/5 i think, my friend had a XR2 B REG New
  19. Just rather puzzled, because people on here are talking about a block to the East from mid month onwards, just looking at the GFS it is showing it is getting milder double figures plus from Tuesday then getting cooler than milder again and so on typical English weather. Also out of interest is there a section, or could be set up on this site Novices such as me can talk about models without being totally confused, on the other threads it is a bit more technical and feel rather silly if you post something, i have been studying the weather for twenty years or so but want to know how the models work more, i have always been brought up with no computers, doing my own forecasts by looking out the window and going to the Met Office in Holborn when it was there.
  20. Out of interest why from next tuesday temps here are showing double figures and a strong SW airflow, and its not changing is the GFS out?
