  1. I have run a well known make of AWS since 2003. I upgrade to the newer version in late 2016. Earlier this year I began to wonder if the rain gauge was recording correctly. To check it I bought a standard rain gauge. The standard rain gauge (situated right be the AWS) nearly always records about 10-20% more rain than the AWS tipping bucket rain gauge. If adjust the data I've kept up by 15% to reflect the obvious (that the tipping bucket gauge in the AWS under records rainfall) am I dishonestly manipulating my data or applying common sense? Well, If we follow your 'logic' then I'm being dishonest
  2. I asked you some questions. Care to answer them?
  3. He's just a (often abusive and dishonest) bloke who posts videos to you tube that pick at imaginary nits to make mountains out of sand grains. As far as I can tell he has no formal education in a relevant science. If you believe Heller you're saying specialist education is pointless. Do you really want us to go back to the dark ages?
  4. Huh??? I said no such thing, you're putting words into my mouth. I asked you some questions, care to answer them?
  5. My point being you said "That's not to denigrate anyone at MetO" when you'd spent the preceding two paragraphs doing just that
  6. Well, if I were to say to you your work was a 'year 12 assignment' and that you 'must do your homework on time' and it was a 'copy and paste job' I don't think it would be seen by you as a compliment? Would it?
  7. I was behaving I simply gave may view! For that I get the above...
  8. Thank you but I did say 'this year' for a reason... I made no claim about climate - actually I'd argue you did so in your post when you dismissed what the Met O say as 'nonsense' and generally dismissed the idea the climate is changing. Lets be open minded
  9. You're playing with words. But, to try and understand what is behind your mischief I have the following questions for you: Are you saying it's only acidification if the movement is to below pH7? If I have a solution of pH7.1 and I add a strong alakali what would you call the change? If I have a solution of pH 7 and add acid what would you call the change? And if if it was pH 6.9?
  10. Interesting view. If I were to go out into our field (remember, I live on extra soggy east Dartmoor) and dig a hole I am confident that about two feet down I will find dust - it was like that two weeks ago and we've had diddly squat rain since then. Around here this year has, in some respects, been Mediterranean.
  11. You say ocean acidification isn't possible and to 'prove' that you supply a load of references showing ocean acidification isn't happening? No, you supply a load of references that talk about the various effects of ocean acidification. Colour me deeply unconvinced. Further, your words 'I don't accept that it's possible' indicate your mind is closed. Not that you 'think' it's not possible you refuse to even consider the possibility!
  12. You rekon? It's worse than I thought...
  13. So, your claim is the whole of the west of Antarctica is being warmed by vast volcanic activity that has all just started just recently? Gerroff with you . Humm, though, to be fair, your theory would explain why Hawaii has a nice climate!
  14. No, Larsen A and B of the Antarctic peninsula...
  15. ??? Besides, Antarctic sea ice has been below normal in extent this year... How did your volcanoes melt the Larsen A and B ice shelfs?
  16. So we have three coincidences. 1, the discovery of the volcanoes, 2, that they (at the same time) become more active and 3, (at the same time) atmosphere CO2 concentration increases by more than 40% And yet, despite several hundred years of evidence, data and observation (and the predictions that certain laws of physics then provide) that increasing CO2 by 40% (plus other anthro changes) will (very likely) cause atmosphere warming in line with what we see you say the ice is being melted by volcanoes that (just when we discover them) have suddenly got more active? Like I say, I beg to differ....
  17. You STATED it was the cause. I beg to differ.... The volcanoes haven't suddenly appeared, they have suddenly been discovered. There is no reason, imo, to think the amount of heat they release has suddenly changed just because they have been discovered - besides if they have such an influence why is there any ice there at all?
  18. I beg to differ... Especially when you start out with an unequivocal statement...
  19. Please make it clear you have lifted large sections of your post from another site. This article discusses the flaws in the so called 'Phd'.
  20. 'Falsities'? That is a comment well beneath you bftp - well, I thought so anyway.
  21. Is it? Who said that? Oh, hang on, you did... Anyway..., there is much less ice this October , or in recent October, than there was just a few decades ago during October.
  22. I hope you are right, everything other than hope indicates you have misplaced confidence. What effect do you think changing atmospheric CO2 concentration from about 280pp to 400ppm (and its likely to keep rising) will have? Just to be sure, do you agree with my figures for atmospheric CO2 concentration? And why do you wink at us a lot? Oh, and do you post on TWO?
  23. Hello, its the old 'you want to send us back to the stone age' jibe rewritten just for this thread! No.I.for.one.do.not. But, I'll happily consume less if it helps keep the planet clean.
  24. Clearly 'we' (humanity) put the extra greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. Why can't we not do that, or reduce that? Clearly (with the will) we can. Yes it will be difficult but lets not just give up on the planet.
